THE TRUE COST OF PRISON
Wednesday 6 June

Hear from Rob Preece, Howard League for Penal Reform, on the
true cost of prisons and the reforms that could reduce
re-offending rates, protect the public and improve social

Southbank Sinfonia presents the world premiere of composer
Cheryl Frances-Hoad's piano concerto, 'Between the Skies,

SOUTH BANK FORUM
Thursday 7 June
7pm at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, 108 Stamford Street
South Bank Forum meetings are chaired by Kate Hoey MP and
Neil Coyle MP and provide an opportunity for residents to
raise and discuss local issues with ward councillors,
alongside the constituencies' MPs. The agenda includes Art
Night 2018, St John's Waterloo's Bridge at Waterloo project,
The Old Vic's development proposals and an update on
Elizabeth House.

WATERLOO FESTIVAL GUIDED WALK
TRANSFORMING LONDON: COMMUNITY IN ACTION
Saturday 9 June
11am & 1pm; meet on church steps at St John's Waterloo, 73

A guided walk around the Coin Street area led by local
residents Natalie Bell and George Nicholson (George is also
a board member). Find out about the history of the area and
the Coin Street campaign from someone involved in the 1970s
and 80s, hear what it's like to live and work at the Oxo
Tower, and why Bernie Spain Gardens has that name. All this
and more will be revealed on the walk with stops at the roof
garden of the Coin Street neighbourhood centre, Bernie Spain
Gardens, Oxo Tower Wharf, and Rambert studios. The walks are
free and participants will meet people active in the
community along the way.

Make Space Studios is a thriving and evolving community of
over 80 artists, designers and makers nestled amidst the
ever-changing landscape of Waterloo. During this annually
held weekend of art and performance, visitors will have a
brief opportunity to explore this unique creative space. All
welcome to this free, fun-packed weekend celebrating
creativity.

OPEN GARDEN SQUARES WEEKEND AT DOWNINGS ROADS MOORINGS
Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 June
2pm-5pm at Downings Roads Moorings,  Mill Street; £4 on the
door for this garden only
Garden Barge Square is situated at Tower Bridge Moorings,
Downings Roads, Southwark. These historic moorings date back
200 years or more. Gardens have been created on the decks of
many of the barges to form an 'inside-out' floating garden
square.

WATERLOO FESTIVAL EUCHARIST
Sunday 10 June
10.30am at St John's Waterloo, 73 Waterloo Road
Festival Eucharist celebrating the theme of the Waterloo
Festival ('Transforming minds') with guest preacher the
Reverend Prebendary Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin, chaplain to the
Speaker of the House of Commons. St John's Choir will sing
Ethel Smyth's 'March of the Woman', commemorating the mass
rally in Hyde Park in June 1908.

OPEN GARDEN SQUARES WEEKEND AT TRINITY CHURCH SQUARE &
MERRICK SQUARE
Sunday 10 June
Trinity Church Square garden will be open to the public from
11 am as part of Open Garden Squares Weekend. Trinity
Newington Residents' Association will run free sessions of
open air yoga in the garden at 10.30am and 12 noon. For
anyone, of any age or experience. Mats will be provided.
Just turn up wearing clothes that you can move freely in.
Merrick Square garden will be open to the public from 11am.
Trinity Newington Residents' Association's Garden Fete will
take place in the garden from 12.30 pm. There will be food
and drink, a variety of craft stalls, music and free
children's entertainments. If you would like to have a
