BANKSIDE'S PAST IN THE PRESENT: A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN CHANGE
Until Friday 4 May [private view Monday 9 April]
Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm; Sat & Sun 9.30am-5.30pm at Refectory,
Southwark Cathedral,  London Bridge; free
An exhibition of work by artist Adrian Chappell and
historical images curated by photographer George Nicholson.
First shown at gallery@oxo in 2017, this is a smaller
curated version of the original exhibition but provides a
further opportunity to see some of the vivid digital
drawings and fascinating photographs under the theme
Bankside's Past in the Present. The images and storylines
are derived from Bankside's changing industrial landscapes,
dating from the late 18th century to the present day.

COMMUNITY GARDENING
Tuesday 10 April
12pm-4pm  at Bernie Spain Gardens,  Upper Ground
Flex your green fingers this spring with a spot of gardening
in Bernie Spain Gardens. Following bulb planting sessions
last December, help with the next stage of work to improve
the flower bed in the south gardens. These sessions are to
plant a range of pollinator plants to help improve
biodiversity. The plants have been chosen to provide much
needed nectar and attract insects which in turn will provide
a food source for birds. Meet at the Colombo Centre at
11.30am for tea/coffee or meet in Bernie Spain Gardens (by
Stamford Street) from 12 noon. Soup and bread lunch
provided. For more information about these activities and

BOROUGH NEW MUSIC

LAMBETH PALACE GARDEN OPEN DAY
Friday 13 April
12pm-3pm  at Lambeth Palace,  Lambeth Palace Road; £5

The garden is open to the public once a month between April
and September. The first garden open day of this year will
be hosted by Ronald McDonald House, who provide
accommodation for families with children being treated at
the nearby Evelina London Children's Hospital. Refreshments
and entertainment provided.

SOUTHWARK HUSTINGS ON PLANNING & REGENERATION

Local council elections are coming up in May. The Southwark
Planning Network (SPN) is arranging community hustings
focussed on planning and regeneration. This is a hustings
with a difference, creating a space where community
perspectives on important planning policy matters can be
raised with politicians seeking election. Community groups
from across the borough, linked through the Southwark
Planning Network, are working together to create a community
exhibition on planning issues across the borough from 2pm.
