chestnut trees in County Fermanagh, to freshly baked soda
farls and potato bread. For a healthier (but equally
delicious) breakfast, White's traditionally milled porridge
oats from will be on sale from one of Northern Ireland's
oldest brands. Add to that Irish black butter, artisan
triple cream cheese and award-winning rapeseed oil, and
visitors won't be disappointed in the ingredients available.
For a regional tipple, Shortcross Gin, Northern Ireland's
first premium craft gin - inspired by the surrounding
forests and gardens at Rademon Estate in Co. Down - will be
on sale. Botanicals include foraged wild clover, local green
apples and elderberries all combined with fresh water from

BERNIE SPAIN GARDENS NORTH PROPOSALS
Thursday 15 to Monday 19 March
Presentation Thu 7pm-9pm; exhitition Fri 10am-7pm & Sat
1pm-5pm at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, 108 Stamford
Street
Coin Street Community Builders invites you to give your
views on design proposals for Bernie Spain Gardens north
(the part of the gardens between Upper Ground and the
river). During 2016 Coin Street carried out consultation
about its aspirations to improve the gardens. Based on this,
a design brief to create a public open green space of high
quality and sustainability was created and in 2017 a
landscape design competition was launched for the north part
of the gardens. Improvements to the planting in the south
part of the gardens are already under way. Five competition
entrants have been shortlisted: (Bradley-Hole Schoenaich
Landscape; J & L Gibbons; Kinnear Landscape Architects;
Reynolds Design; and West 8). Their outline proposals are
now ready for further consultation. On Thursday from 7pm
there will be a presentation by each of the shortlisted
landscape designers, and an opportunity to ask questions and
feed back views and comments. The designs will also be on
display on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday 17 to Sunday 18 March
10am-6pm at HMS Belfast, Morgans Lane, Tooley Street;
general admission applies
On Saturday you can meet veterans from across HMS Belfast's
80 year history and learn about what it was like to live and

lights, radios, codes and flags were used to pass messages
from ship to ship. You can also learn how to send your own
name in Morse Code, as well as a new signal created
specifically for the occasion. Enjoy a slice of birthday
cake created by Sophie Faldo, the 2017 winner of The Great
British Bake Off, grab a souvenir photo in our Birthday
Photobooth and try out some temporary tattoos to complete
your Naval look. For visitors over 18, you can also enjoy a
complimentary rum punch, inspired by the 'tots, sippers and
gulpers' that were part of life in the Royal Navy all those
years ago. Alongside all these activities, don't miss your
chance to explore all nine decks of the most significant
surviving Second World War Royal Navy warship.
