BETTER BANKSIDE PANCAKE DAY RACE
Tuesday 13 February
12.30pm-2pm  at Jubilee Place, Borough Market, Winchester
Walk; free
15 teams from local businesses in Bankside will compete for
the coveted trophy. Residents, passers-by and pancake
enthusiasts are encouraged to come down and show their
support while the teams do their best not to fall flat while
racing up and down in a fast and furious pancake flipping
relay in the Market's Jubilee Place. Traders will be on hand
to offer pancakes for consumption, not flipping. Funds
raised from the event will go to local charity Paintings in
Hospitals, with collection boxes available should anyone
wish to make a donation.

THE LEATHER INDUSTRY IN THE BERMONDSEY STREET AREA - TALK
Thursday 15 February
7pm (drinks from 6.30pm) at The Hive, 1 Melior Place; free;

In 1730 Queen Anne granted a royal charter and 100 years
later, tanneries and other leather work covered the
Bermondsey. By 1980, it had all gone. Local historian Jennie
Howells will be sharing this history. This event is
organised by BSAP (Bermondsey Street Area Partnership).

LUNAR NEW YEAR COMMUNITY DAY
Saturday 17 February
12.30pm-3.30pm  at Living Space & Waterloo Millennium Green
In honour of the Year of the Dog, there will be Chinese
Square Dancing, planting on the green of dog wood and dog
roses, Chinese lantern decoration making, food & drink, plus
see the children parade their homemade life-size dragon and
lots more.
