SHAD THAMES PUMPING STATION WORKS: DROP-IN SESSION

A drop-in session giving a chance to meet the Thames Water
team and find out about the work beginning in early 2018 at
the Shad Thames Pumping Station on Maguire Street in
connection with the Tideway Tunnel. Organised by Shad Thames

BOMBERG: MOTION & MUSIC
Thursday 30 November
7pm-9pm  at Borough Road Gallery, London South Bank
University, 103 Borough Road; free
An immersive performance combining music and animated
imagery inspired by artist David Bomberg. Artist Oscar Lewis
produces a series of animations in response to the distinct
phases in Bomberg's career. Working in collaboration with
chamber musicians, Three Parts Vied, the performance
highlights Bomberg's creativity and influence on future
generations of artists.

SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS MARKET
Friday 1 to Sunday 3 December
Fri 11am-7pm; Sat & Sun 10am-5pm at Southwark Cathedral,
London Bridge
A regular feature of Advent at Southwark Cathedral, this
Christmas Market can be found in the marquee located on the
north side of the Cathedral. The exhibitors have been
selected for their high quality and unique products many of
which are hand-made. The Friends Annual Raffle will be drawn
on Sunday at 4pm. Tickets are on sale throughout the
weekend. On Saturday, Christmas music will be provided by
choirs and organists throughout the day in the Cathedral.

FROZEN IN TIME - NIGHT PARADE
Friday 1 December
dusk at Mint Street Park  Southwark Bridge Road; free
The main event starts at dusk, and will be led through the
local streets by Old Father Thames, a giant puppet, taking
the magical illuminations through Red Cross Garden and local
estates, culminating in a grand finale at Mint Street Park.
Part of the Blackfriars Stories series of arts events funded
by Southwark Council and local developers.

OASIS FARM WATERLOO CHRISTMAS MARKET
Saturday 2 December
2pm-8pm  at Oasis Farm Waterloo,  Carlisle Lane; suggested
entry donation £1; kids free
Come and peruse some artisan stalls, treat yourself to
festive goodies and Christmassy treats, all under the roof
of the farm's new barn. You can also pay a visit to the
animals, and Father Christmas in his grotto. Continue into
the evening with a winter BBQ accompanied by mulled wine,
music and carolling. The SE1 website will have a stall -
come and buy a 2018 calendar to help us keep publishing next
year and beyond.

DRAWN TO THE SKYLINE

Start Blavatnik Building of Tate Modern, Bankside, London
SE1 9TG (at top of stairs on the 10th floor viewing gallery)
Finish: St Vedast alias Foster, Foster Lane EC2V 6HH
Launching a new series of 'Drawn to the Skyline' walkshops,
Ruth Broadbent will entice you to master the art of drawing
and sketching the London skyline, from both the south and
the north riversides. Drawing is considered in its widest
sense, from pen and pencil on paper to performance, so there
will be plenty of opportunities to embrace imagination and
abstract, as well as real and observed details. The session
begin at Tate Modern on the viewing gallery at the top of
the Blavatnik building. The gallery offers 360 degree views
of London's skyline. Suitable for beginners and those more
experienced. You will be in a small group - the walkshop
capacity is limited to 8 people. Ideal for anyone wanting to
generate new artwork and ideas to develop their own art
practice or to add to a student art portfolio. Drawn to the
Skyline walkshops are produced by the Museum of Walking.

CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT
Monday 4 December
6.30pm-9.30pm  at St Mary Magdalen,  Bermondsey Street; £10
(child £7) from www.dimblebycancercare.org/events
Join Dimbleby Cancer Care as they host an evening of Carols
by Candlelight with some celebrity supporters to raise
money. Hosted by David and Jonathan Dimbleby with special
guests and musical performances from Farringtons Junior
School choir, there will also be lots of opportunities for
guests to join in with the festive singing. The service will
conclude with a drinks reception and mince pies and a
raffle. The charity provides practical and psychological
support to people living with cancer and to their families
and carers, and is also developing a website resource to
help people find care and support services nearest to them
which is due to be launched early 2018.
