CROSSBONES GARDEN: SPECIAL OPENING AND TOURS
Wednesday 19 & Thursday 20 August
Wed 5.30pm-8.30pm; Thu 11.30am-2.30pm at Cross Bones
Graveyard, Redcross Way; free
John Constable first revealed the Crossbones story in his
book The Southwark Mysteries. Since then, Friends of
Crossbones have campaigned for a garden of remembrance on
the site of the outcasts' graveyard. They are now working
with Bankside Open Spaces Trust to establish the garden,
which is currently open to the public on Fridays: 11am -
1pm. On these additional Special Openings, John will be in
residence and conducting free informal tours of the
Crossbones Garden.

TATE MODERN - VOLUNTEER TASTER SESSION
Wednesday 19 August
3pm-4.30pm  at Tate Modern, Bankside
Tate Modern is recruiting some more volunteer visitors hosts
to welcome visitors to the gallery, based at the gallery
entrances. The gallery welcomes all enquiries, no matter
what your background or experience � and you don't need to
know about art. The commitment is a few hours a month. At
the taster session they'll introduce you to the gallery and
the current volunteer opportunity. For more information

details. Places are limited, but more taster sessions will

DESIGN YOUR OWN SWIMWEAR

Do you want to sharpen up your drawing skills? Join the
Fashion and Textile Museum on a free �design your own
swimwear� drop in session learning drawing tricks and design
tips. Based on the Museum�s book How to Draw Like a Fashion
Designer and current exhibition Riviera Style, the workshop
is available to all ages and no pre-booking required. Spaces
are limited and placed on a first come, first served basis.

KINETIKA BLOCO DRUMMING WORKSHOP

Join local carnival performance group Kinetika Bloco for an
hour long drumming workshop as part of the London Bridge
Live Arts season. The Kinetika Bloco draw influences from
the Caribbean, Brazil, West and Southern Africa, New Orleans
jazz, Funk and Hip Hop. Their mission is to get young people
from South London engaged in long term creative activity
advancing their education, skills, and capacity through the
creation of exciting performances.

MARIONETTE MAKING WORKSHOP

Make your own basic marionette using found objects!
Marionettes are string puppets which can be as simple or as
complicated as you like� Bring along an object of beauty
(like a feather, shell, piece of broken jewellery?) and
exchange it with Sian to be turned in to a puppet. You will
be creating basic string puppets creatures and incorporating
your objects and a few of Sian's own to make a puppet
creature that you can take away with you. This workshop is
suitable for ages 6+. Hot glue guns and pliers will be used
so children will be need to be accompanied.

MARAWA'S MAJORETTES HULA HOOPING WORKSHOP

The Majorettes are World Record Holding Troupe of hula hoop
extraordinaires. Coached and led by circus superstar Marawa
The Amazing, these girls have become a leading fitness team
and international performance troupe, teaching the world to
hoop as they go! If you thought you've mastered everything
about the hula hoop in the school playground, prepare to be
amazed. During the class, you'll learn everything hoop
related - from twirling and whirling to wiggling - and how
to control not one, not two but three (or more!) hoops!

Part walking tour, part site-specific performance, combining
storytelling with a touch of improv, revealing the hidden
histories of the London Bridge area. Aside from showing you
the spots only the locals know, this walk will share a
collection of unexpected anecdotes, collected and created by
local flaneurs Jonathan Peck and Mark Dawson. Urban legend
or historical fact - can you cut through the hype?

STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS

The Unicorn Theatre presents interactive storytelling
workshops for the whole family. Expect tall tales, silly
songs and characters you know and love. 12:45 � 1.30pm For
ages 3-6: Breaking The Ice Have you heard the incredible
true story of a wild polar bear who made friends with a
Husky? Listen to a tale of unlikely friendship and be part
of the action. We�ll create all the action and sounds as the
characters learn to play together. Get your roars ready!
1:45 � 2.30pm For ages 6+: Baddies: the Musical We�ll be
embarking on a trip to the Enchanted Forest to find our
favourite characters from the Grimm Tales and beyond. Who
will we meet along the way? You�ll be up on your feet and
showing us your best Big Bad Wolf and Cinderella!

BED is a one-on-one theatrical storytelling experience,

sleeping. The performance is produced by actress, compere
and writer Bernadette Russell.
