POLYPHONY DOWN THE PUB
Monday 16 February
7pm at The Horse & Stables, 122-124 Westminster Bridge Road;

Experimental singing/socialising event - a pub 'jam' session
but instead of playing folk music or jazz, people turn up to
sing a cappella masterpieces from the 16th century by
Palestrina, Victoria and others. No audition, no rehearsal,
no performance; just people in a pub making music. Anyone
who can read music and wants to take part should download
the sheet music from Facebook; anyone who can't read music
is still welcome to come along and listen.

THE FLIPPING MARVELLOUS SE1 CHARITY PANCAKE RACE
Tuesday 17 February
12.30pm-1.30pm at The Scoop at More London, More London
Riverside
Now in its third year, The Flipping Marvellous SE1 Charity
Pancake Race aims to raise money by bringing together local
organisations to indulge in a batter based competition. The
2015 race is the biggest yet, with an expanded course taking
in Hay's Galleria along with More London and Potters Fields
Park. The event is a More London and London Bubble Theatre
initiative in aid of Young Theatre Makers (YTM), a creative
training programme for young people. YTM uses a
theatre-based approach to raise aspirations and build life
skills. Bubble's award winning programme has seen 93 per
cent of graduates go on to employment or further education.
Organisations in the SE1 area have been invited to enter
teams of 4 people to hunt, gather and flip their way around
More London. A young person from YTM will lead each team as
part of the programme's aim to develop an innovative model
of corporate engagement.

6.30pm-7.30pm at John Harvard Library, 211 Borough High
Street; free
Brunel did not just build the world, he invented it. And he

Hulse, Director of Rotherhithe's Brunel Museum, will give a
free talk about the life and achievements of the great
Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859). Brunel is often thought
of as a Bristol man, but he always lived in London. His
first project aged 19 years was the Thames Tunnel, where he
worked with his father on what was dubbed 'the Eighth Wonder
of the World'.
