THE POETRY OF DYLAN THOMAS

An overview of Dylan Thomas' life and work by Jo Furber from
the Dylan Thomas Centre. Jo Furber is Swansea Council's
Literature Officer, and is based at the city's Dylan Thomas
Centre, where she curates the permanent Dylan Thomas
Exhibition and runs the Centre's arts programme. In this
talk, she'll give an overview of Dylan Thomas' life and
work, and his importance to his "ugly, lovely town" of
Swansea. Part of the Rhyme and Reason 6 poetry festival.

PATIENCE AGBABI: TELLING TALES

Patience Agbabi is one of the UK's foremost poets. For this
event she will be performing work from her latest book
Telling Tales - a retelling of Chaucer's The Canterbury
Tales for the 21st century. Mining the Middle-English
masterwork for its performance as well as its poetry and
pilgrims, her boisterous and lyrical collection gives one of
Britain's most significant works of poetry thrilling new
life. Following a book launch in 2014 at Southwark
Cathedral, Patience has toured the book with to a wide range
of literary festivals and venues. Part of the Rhyme and
Reason 6 poetry festival.

BACH TO BABY: HASSELMAN'S HARP

Classical music for babies & toddlers with local mother and
professional musician Miaomiao Yu. Credited with
establishing the French school of harp playing, Alphonse
Hasselmans composed some of the most ambitious works ever
written for solo harp. Harpist Rachel Wick presents two of
his finest pieces, framed by music from the German and Welsh
harp traditions, including the beautiful folk song Watching
the Wheat.
