With Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Coin Street Community Builders has been working with local people to create a new growing space in Bernie Spain Gardens. The group has already planted herbs, strawberries, bay and rosemary and some mini wild flower meadows. Carrots, radish and pak choi seeds have been sowed. Now there is another bed to plant up. Warning: watching the rising tide slowly douse the fires can be strangely hypnotic! Thames Finds Display: Come and join us on the river steps in front of the Globe Theatre where there will be a display of Thames finds for you to look at from 12 noon to 6pm. Come and experience a glittering soiree fit for the stars as you relive your favourite moments from the silver screen through their soundtracks. As you take in a cocktail, the Collaborative Orchestra and its ensembles will perform instantly recognisable selections from Star Wars to James Bond to Jurassic Park. Founded in February 2012, the Collaborative Orchestra is a group of highly-skilled and dedicated young musicians aiming to apply their musical abilities in innovative ways, including working with leading artists and filmmakers. Led by an Iranian conductor Mehrdad Fahrid, the orchestra has undertaken six concerts since its well-received debut concert at St John's Smith Square in July 2012. This colossal choir of young voices will sing an eclectic repertoire of songs from around the world. Led by Richard Frostick, Kids Choir has been centrepiece of The Mayor's Thames Festival for the past 12 years. Info & map: http://www.London-SE1.co.uk/whatson/event/15968 SING FOR WATER Sunday 14 September 2.30pm-3.30pm at The Scoop at More London, More London Riverside; free 800-strong, UK-wide massed choir as it comes together to sing for WaterAid - an organisation delivering clean water and hygiene education to impoverished communities across the globe. Co-founded in 2002 by renowned composer, singer and musical director Helen Chadwick and the Thames Festival, Sing for Water draws choirs from all over the UK annually to take part and help raise money for WaterAid. In 2014, the choir will be led by Roxane Smith and Michael Harper. Since it began, Sing for Water events have raised over �650,000 for WaterAid projects in India, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Malawi, bringing clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to thousands of people.
