SANCTUARY @ THE DRAGON CAFE
Monday 1 September
12pm-8.30pm  at The Crypt, St George the Martyr,  Borough
High Street; free
A weekly open creative space for all - with an emphasis on
those going through mental illness and recovery - the Dragon
Cafe is open every Monday in the crypt of St George the
Martyr Church. Today the Dragon Cafe returns from its summer
break and launches a month-long programme curated by the
Bethlem Museum & Art Gallery. They will present a programme
of films, talks, object handling sessions, art, dance, songs
and music all exploring creative and psychiatric forms of
sanctuary down the ages.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: FREE OPEN-AIR MOVIE SCREENING
Wednesday 3 September

the archaeologist who ventures to the jungles of South

PHILOMENA: FREE OPEN-AIR MOVIE SCREENING

Written and staring Steve Coogan, Philomena is based on a
true story of Martin Sixsmith, a world weary journalist
recently sacked by the Labour Party and in need of work. He
picks up the story of a woman in search of her son who was
taken from her decades ago after she got pregnant, was
unmarried and forced into a convent. Take your seat early as
these free open-air screenings are very popular.

SOUTH BANK FORUM
Thursday 4 September
7pm at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, 108 Stamford Street
Regular public meeting for South Bank residents convened by
Kate Hoey MP and Simon Hughes MP together with local
councillors. Hear about the newly repopened Imperial War
Museum. Learn about proposals for the Cycle Superhighway for
Blackfriars Road and plans for St George's Circus. Steve
Chalke MBE talks about Oasis Academy South Bank one year on

TNRA PORCH SALE IN TRINITY CHURCH SQUARE
Saturday 6 September
10am-3pm outside Henry Wood Hall,  Trinity Church Square
Hundreds of secondhand books at very cheap prices, plus CDs,
DVDs and bric-a-brac. The sale takes place under the portico
of the former Holy Trinity Church and all proceeds go to the
Trinity Newington Residents' Association.

BERMONDSEY WALK WITH OLD MAPS

Join Ken Titmuss for a walk with old maps exploring the
settlement that grew around the causeway that led to
Bermondsey Abbey. Find buildings that recall the area's
leather-making heritage and 17th century houses where you
least expect to see them. Along the way you will find find a
Watch House and a fragment of Bermondsey Abbey that let you
know you had arrived.

FLASH BULB EVENT AT RED CROSS GARDEN
Saturday 6 September
2pm-4pm  at Red Cross Garden,  Redcross Way; free
Join a "flash mob" and help plant 1000 yellow crocus bulbs.
Octavia Hill - who established the garden in 1887 - planted
1000 yellow crocuses for all to enjoy. Come and help mirror
this occasion in 2014 - no gardening experience needed. Just
turn up in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Tools
provided. All ages welcome.
