ST OLAV'S DAY CHORAL EVENSONG
Tuesday 29 July
5.30pm at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge
The Feast of St Olav celebrating the 150th anniversary of
the Norwegian Church overseas and the 1000th anniversary of
the rescue of London by St Olav. To save London from the
Danish attacks and to secure the claim on the crown by
Ethelred the Unready, Olav pulled down London Bridge and so
saved the city. He went from London to Rouen in Normandy
where he was baptised in the cathedral. Southwark Cathedral
is linked with Rouen Cathedral and Bergen Cathedral and the
three cathedrals will join together in a celebration of St
Olav in Rouen in the autumn. This event with members of the
Norwegian community in London marks the beginnings of
Southwark's celebrations. Choir: Vocalis Chamber Choir,
Buffalo, NY

PLANTS NOT PACKAGING
Wednesday 30 July
12pm-1.30pm  at Waterloo Millennium Green,  Waterloo Road;
free
Come and help transform unwanted packaging into an fun and
engaging environmental sculpture. Waterloo Millennium Green
is a popular green oasis for local people to escape the
hectic environment of urban London. Large numbers of
visitors at lunchtimes make the green a vibrant place on
warm sunny days, but the team of volunteers and staff who
look after the park are overwhelmed with lunch wrappers and
food packaging from hundreds of take-away lunches. This
event celebrates local engagement with green space and will
start a conversation about caring for our park and keeping
it beautiful through plants not packaging. A Love Parks Week
event.
