{ Advert: Autumn Language Classes 2013 }

A few places are left for current summer courses as well.

French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese

A series of language courses will be running from Tuesday
September 24th for ten weeks and on Thursdays starting
Thursday September 26.

The Tuesday classes will be held at Chiswell Street near
Moorgate and the Thursday classes will be held at More
London (near London Bridge). 

Courses are open to beginners, intermediate and advanced
speakers of French, Spanish and Italian as well as beginners
and intermediate students of Portuguese and German.

TO KILL A KELPIE: FREE FILM SCREENINGS
Wednesday 29 to Thursday 30 May
7pm at Bankside Community Space, 18 Great Guildford Street
Matthew McVarish is a Scottish actor and writer, and also
the European Ambassador for Stop the Silence: Stop Child
Sexual Abuse, Inc. (Stop the Silence, www.stopcsa.org), an
international organisation working on the prevention and
mitigation of child sexual abuse (CSA). Matthew is going to
undertake a 10,000 mile walk around 31 cities in the EU to
raise awareness about prevention and healing of CSA. He
leaves from London on Friday and before he sets off he will
be screening his original feature film, 'To Kill a Kelpie'
at the Bankside Community Space on two evenings.

BOROUGH MUSIC SCHOOL CONCERT
Friday 31 May
12.30pm-1.30pm  at Skirt of the Black Mouth,  Sumner Street;
free
Borough Music School is a local charity that provides music
education for children. Join them for a special concert as
they perform some of their latest songs and lively music.

BANKSIDE BONANZA ART TOUR
Friday 31 May
6.30pm at Tate Modern,  Bankside; pay what you like (�5
suggested); email [email protected] to book
Join artist Adam Walker on a tour of some of SE1 and SE11's
most exciting galleries as they stay open late as part of
the South London Art Map 'last Fridays' initiative. Meeting
at the Tate Project Space beside the riverside entrance of
Tate Modern, there'll be chance to explore the current
'Ruins in Reverse' exhibition in this often missed space for
contemporary works at Tate. The tour will take in a pop-up
exhibition at Ludgate House, Core@Nolia's, Man&Eve in Lower
Marsh and Beaconsfield in Vauxhall. SLAM's art tours are all
led by practicing artists with an encyclopedic knowledge of
south London's galleries and quirks.

BLACKFRIARS ROAD PUBLIC EXHIBITION
Saturday 1 June
1pm-5pm  at ASC Gallery, Erlang House, 128 Blackfriars Road
Southwark Council has worked with partners to put together a
public exhibition which summarises all the different
projects being planned along Blackfriars Road. The
exhibition will include visuals for each of the projects and
a large ground floor plan showing how all the new schemes
will interact with the public realm along Blackfriars Road.

ST JOHN'S SCULPTURE GARDENS OPEN EVENING
Monday 3 June
5.30pm-7.30pm  at Southbank Mosaics, St John's Crypt, 73
Waterloo Road
 Come and see the sculptures, mosaic seating and planters
Southbank Mosaics have made in St John's Gardens, working
with the St Mungo's project Putting Down Roots, who develop
and maintain the gardens to award-winning standards. There
will be an opportunity to see the new apiary and bee hives
and learn about the bee-friendly plants in the gardens. The
beekeeping project has been funded with a grant from
Groundwork UK's Western Riverside Environmental Fund. This
event is part of Chelsea Fringe. You will also be able to
see the sculptural seating and other artworks created by
Southbank Mosaics. Please gather at 5.30pm for welcoming
refreshments. Southbank Mosaics' AGM will take place from
6pm to 6.30pm, followed by a guided walk from 6.30pm until
7.30 pm, after which there will be wine and nibbles, and
singing provided by Kate Portal and members of St John's
Choir.
