5 WEEKS OF BACK TO NETBALL TRAINING (FREE) - PLAYERS WANTED 
Starts Monday 5 November 
Waterloo Netball together with Give it A Go are offering
free 5 weeks of Back to Netball sessions. If your memories
of netball are of stern PE teachers and being the last one
picked for the team, then fear not! These training sessions
are aimed at all abilities and the focus is on having fun
and sneaking in a little bit of exercise. Led by a very
talented Level 1 England Netball qualified coach who is
training for her Level 2 - so actually you will be helping
her professional development by coming along! Sessions will
take place Monday nights, from tonight, 5th November, 4.30 -
5.30pm, at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park (Imperial War
Museum), St Georges Rd, SE1 6ER. Please contact Melanie at

OASIS ACADEMY SOUTH BANK PUBLIC CONSULTATION MEETING
Monday 5 November
7pm-8.30pm  at Oasis Centre, 75 Westminster Bridge Road
In July Oasis was given permission by the Department for
Education to open a new, small, co-educational secondary
school in Waterloo. Oasis Academy South Bank, which will
open in September 2013, will begin with an initial intake of
120 Year 7 students from the local community. At this public
consultation meeting Oasis will update you on the progress
made in establishing the new school and discuss the change
of use planning application which the Department for
Education has submitted to the London Borough of Lambeth for
Hercules House in Hercules Road.

Training budgets are usually the first to go in a recession
in order to save money however, this can leave companies
with less skilled employees when the economy begins to pick
up. There are plenty of opportunities for businesses to take
advantage of to recruit new staff and train existing
employees. EmploySE1 and Better Bankside would like to
invite businesses to a free networking event to find out how
to utilise their greatest assets through training and
recruitment opportunities. The event will include short
presentations from industry experts Adam Brown, Rutie
Mupfurutsa and Philip Barron. There will also be the
opportunity to network over a light breakfast.

TOWER BRIDGE ROAD: A COMMUNITY IN TRANSITION

Team London Bridge invites representatives of businesses
based around Tower Bridge to a reception to celebrate the
ongoing changes happening in this part of London. The
evening will feature a welcome by historian John
Wolfe-Barry, who is also the great grandson of Sir John
Wolfe-Barry, the engineer who oversaw the construction of
Tower Bridge. Speakers will include a representative from
Berkeley Homes who will discuss their development plans for
One Tower Bridge and a representative from Team London
Bridge to give an update on some of the BID's new
initiatives. This event is free and open to anyone who is
part of the Tower Bridge business community.

JEWISH FOLKLORE OF THE EAST END

Folklorist and storyteller Del Reid talks about the folklore
of the East End of London. Successive waves of immigration
have landed at the docks of the East End over the centuries,
and a vibrancy of folk tradition and lore is reflected by
this.  A South East London Folklore Society event.

KING'S COLLEGE REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY

A Remembrance ceremony at the Guy's Memorial Arch (opposite
entrance to the Hodgkin Building). This will include prayers
for peace, the laying of wreaths, the sounding of the Last
Post & Reveille and the two minutes' silence.

An open house for local residents and workers to find out
how occupational therapy can help them with remaining
independent whether they have reduced physical abilities or
mental health problems, or if they have children who require
further support in their homes or schools. A programme of

GUIDED WALK - DRAMATIC CHANGES: 200 YEARS OF WATERLOO

Join the Living Memory heritage project for a tour of two
centuries of theatres in the Waterloo area. We begin at The
Old Vic, with its roots dating back to 1818; visit behind
the scenes at a new theatre beneath Waterloo East station;
and end at the Young Vic, its 1970s identity reinvented for
the 21st century. Whether or not you are a keen theatre
goer, this walk will give you some surprising insights � and
maybe even a new perspective - on places known and unknown
near Waterloo Station.

Two-day exhibition on board the Dixie Queen party boat
moored at Butler's Wharf Pier. Ed Gray's work explores the
modern city in all its guises. Walking city streets with
sketchbook and pencil in hand Gray takes his inspiration
from the real life he encounters. Back in the studio each
piece realised celebrates the day to day struggles,
ambitions and aspirations that the urban environment
provokes in the lives of Londoners, from the everyman and
woman to familiar faces on the London scene.

REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY AT BOROUGH WAR MEMORIAL
Sunday 11 November
10.50am at Borough War Memorial,  Borough High Street
Annual observance of the two minute silence in memory of the
dead of the two World Wars. St George the Martyr and
Precious Blood clergy lead short outdoor service at the
memorial outside the Slug & Lettuce in Borough High Street.
Followed by laying of wreaths by Borough organisations. All
welcome.

ACT OF REMEMBRANCE AT SOVIET WAR MEMORIAL

former Soviet countries and veterans will be present at this
short ceremony at the Soviet War Memorial.
