SPRING HISTORY WALK AT ARCHBISHOP'S PARK
Tuesday 29 May
Meet 11am outside Lambeth Palace gateway; free
Take a stroll through Archbishop's Park in the company of
Lambeth's archivists. Tucked away between the railway line
and the walls of Lambeth Palace (it used to be a part of the
Archbishops of Canterbury's extensive private gardens) is
arguably Lambeth's most secret park. This one hour walk
through the park and the surrounding streets takes in the
history of Lambeth's church and palace and the links with
the poet and artist William Blake who lived close by.

SELF SEEDERS WALK
Tuesday 29 May
Meet 4.30pm at St John's Waterloo, 73 Waterloo Road; free;
reserve a place 07901 560038
The designer overthrown? Welcome to the beautiful and
dangerous world of self-seeding plants! A talk with pictures
at St John's in Waterloo, then a walk round some of the
public gardens looked after by Putting Down Roots, a
gardening project for homeless people run by St Mungo's. See
the communities of plants that self seed, consider seed
banks in the soil as security against vandalism and look at
the parallels between plants and people that the language of
gardening suggests: natives, aliens, invasive, naturalised.
Some plants are benign, some poisonous, some are both!
