NIGHT AND THE CITY: COMMUNITY FILM CLUB

A 1950 masterpiece of film noir, a story of small time
gangsters, corruption and betrayal. Set against the backdrop
of a war-torn London, the film's finale takes place on
a�derelict site that later would become the Festival of
Britain. Director: Jules Dassin Duration: 92 min (black &
white) Membership of the Community Film Club is aimed at

SHELL CENTRE CONCEPT MASTERPLAN EXHIBITION & WORKSHOPS
Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 March
Exhibition open Tue 3pm-6pm; Wed 4pm-7pm; Thu 11am-6pm at
Shell Centre, York Road
Local residents, businesses and visitors to the South Bank
have a further chance to share their views on the mixed use
redevelopment of the Shell Centre, in the second round of
independent consultation exhibitions and workshops taking
place this week. Architects Squire and Partners were
recently announced as masterplanners for the site. Come and
see their initial design ideas at this three-day exhibition.
The workshops (Tuesday & Thursday 6.30pm; RSVP essential)
follow the first phase of community consultation which took
place in January and February and attracted participation
from more than 800 people with an interest in the future of
the South Bank.

BOROUGH & BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Tuesday 13 March
7pm (community safety surgery from 6.30pm) at St George the
Martyr,  Borough High Street
Regular meeting for residents of Cathedrals and Chaucer
wards. Learn about local projects and talk to your
councillors and neighbours. This is the penultimate meeting
of Borough & Bankside Community Council in is current form
before a planned merger with Walworth Community Council.
There will be a discussion about the changes Find out about
the Olympics and Paralympics and their impact on the area.
There will also be a presentation on the council's new draft
Open Spaces Strategy.

CHARITY SPEED NETWORKING WITH TEAM LONDON BRIDGE

Did you make a New Year�s Resolution to get more involved in
your local community this year? Have you done anything about
it yet? If not, this free event could be for you. Team
London Bridge has selected eight local charities that
support a variety of causes, from young people, to mental
health, hospital patients and the elderly. They need you and
your skills, for an hour, a day, or longer. Maybe you can
help design a website, read over their business plan, join
in with a team challenge, or something else. Come along and
meet them in this new speed networking format. You will get
five to ten minutes to sit with each charity and find out
what they do and whether you would like to work with them on
any of their opportunities. There will also be a notice
board so that you can browse opportunities from other
charities. Drinks and nibbles will be served.

CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS: 
COIN STREET NEIGHBOURHOOD FILM CLUB

Cave of Forgotten Dreams follows an exclusive expedition
into the nearly inaccessible Chauvet Cave in France, home to
the most ancient visual art known to have been created by
man. It's an unforgettable cinematic experience that
provides a unique glimpse of the pristine artwork dating
back to human hands over 30,000 years ago - almost twice as

COOLTAN ARTS LARGACTYL SHUFFLE: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle is a free guided cultural
walk promoting mental health and physical wellbeing using
art, humour and history to help de-stigmatise mental
distress. Join this month's walk to celebrate International
Women's Day and hear about revolutionary women in Southwark
and beyond. Walk from Maudsley Hospital in Camberwell to
Cross Bones Graveyard. Learn about local unsung heroines,
creative women and mental health and how history was made by
protesting women in Southwark and beyond. Please wear
comfortable shoes and bring water.

'ARCHITECTURE ON THE THAMES' BOAT TOUR
Saturday 17 March
1pm at Festival Pier,  South Bank; �22.50; booking essential

Journey down the River Thames exploring the architectural
landmarks that contribute to making London such a vibrant
and dynamic city. This river cruise will look at the
impressive mix of historic and modern architecture that make
the riverfront so architecturally diverse. The Thames
embankments are home to Somerset House (Sir William
Chambers/Dixon Jones), Tate Modern (Sir Giles Gilbert
Scott/Herzog & de Meuron), Oxo Tower, Royal Festival Hall
(Allies and Morrison refurbishment), Foster's City Hall,
Riverbank House (David Walker Architects) and the Design
Museum to name a few. Departing from Festival Pier, South
Bank, the tour will first go upstream, taking in Battersea
Power Station and Foster's Studio, before heading downstream
to the city and Docklands and ending at Greenwich Pier. Led
by expert architectural guides.

Bankside and Borough, solving clues to reveal the truth
behind a Dickensian crime. As you crack the case you'll

a team or join one at the start. The hunt lasts about two

FILM FUGITIVE: THE CABINET OF DR CALIGARI

Candlelit screening of the gothic silent movie accompanied
by pianist Wendy Hiscocks. Audiences will be greeted by a
team of themed fugitives. Usherettes will serve delicious
handmade cupcakes, brownies and popcorn. A pop-up bar will
be serving mulled cider, alcoholic hot chocolate and a
variety of other drinks. Part of Film Fugitive's Pull Up A
Pew season of film screenings in London churches.
