MAYOR OF LONDON'S CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
Monday 19 December
7pm-8pm doors open 6.15pm at Southwark Cathedral,  London
Bridge; free
Members of the public are welcome to join GLA staff, and
representatives from different businesses, community
organisations and faith groups. There will be a selection of
congregational Christmas carols, a variety of biblical and
secular readings/poems and guest choirs performing a
selection of songs. This year's service focuses on
volunteering and Team London, the Mayor's programme to
increase volunteering in the capital. Young volunteers aged
between 18 and 25 from the City Year London's Corps will
give readings. The Choir of St Luke's Chelsea and the London
Ambulance Service's choir The LA Singers will perform.

CATHEDRAL SING-IN: LUNCHTIME CAROLS

Lunchtime Christmas celebration for local office workers and

Thursday 22 December
6.30pm at Southwark Cathedral,  London Bridge
Traditional pattern of Lessons and Carols with all the
readings from the King James Version of the Bible. Arrive
early to be sure of a seat.

BBC ONE: MIDNIGHT MASS OF THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD
Saturday 24 December
11.45pm (doors open 10pm; please be seated by 11.15pm) at St
George's Cathedral,  Lambeth Road
Celebrant: the Most Revd Peter Smith, Archbishop of
Southwark. Midnight Mass from Southwark's RC Cathedral is
broadcast live on BBC One. The televised Mass begins at
11.45pm and is preceded by carols and readings from 11.15pm.
Because of the TV broadcast, latecomers cannot be admitted
after Mass has begun.
