CHARLIE CHAPLIN'S LONDON: GUIDED WALK WITH THE RAMBLERS

Join the Capital Walkers for a four mile stroll focusing on
screen legend Charlie Chaplin who was born and lived in
Lambeth. Learn about his life and see where he spent his

SHIP SHIP HOORAY!
Friday 21 October
1pm at HMS Belfast, Morgans Lane, Tooley Street
Join in the celebrations as HMS Belfast marks her fortieth
anniversary in London. She opened to the public on 21
October - Trafalgar Day - 1971. Nearly eight million people
have walked the decks of the ship since she was permanently
moored on the Thames. The ship's company is planning a
40-gun salute, which is sure to make a very big bang, and if
you cast your eyes up to the masthead, you'll see special
messages being signalled in flag semaphore. The 40-gun
salute will last for seven minutes.

Love Letter to Gaza is an unique theatrical event using
verbatim personal messages of love, hope and support for

APPLE DAY AT BOROUGH MARKET
Sunday 23 October
12pm-4pm  at Jubilee Market, Borough Market; free
This family celebration of the apple harvest offers visitors
young and old the chance to join the market's traders in the
celebration of the complete lifecycle of the apple and apple
growers. The market's traders will be on hand to share their
knowledge and enthusiasm and there will be plenty of
opportunity to sample a vast array of apple varieties. Get
stuck into a host of apple treats, take part in the apple
peeling competition, or try your hand at apple pressing. The
Lions part's annual October Plenty harvest celebration will
bring their colourful procession to Borough Market where
they will perform their version of The Marriage of Wit and
Wisdome by Henry Merbury (1579). There will also be games,
story-telling and a story orchard for the whole family to
enjoy.

WITH THE LIONS PART

October Plenty is an Autumn harvest celebration held
annually in Southwark. Beginning on Bankside, by
Shakespeare's Globe, the event mixes ancient seasonal
customs and theatre with contemporary festivity, joining
with historic Borough Market.
