WATERLOO LIBRARY BOOK GROUP

The group is reading The Behaviour of Moths by Poppy Adams.
The library buys 15 copies of each title chosen. The titles
range from contemporary bestsellers, to award-winners and
the occasional classic. New members always welcome.
Attending the group is free but there is a small charge for
refreshments (wine and crisps) for those who want them.

HELP TO TURN A BURGESS PARK TREE TRUNK INTO A BENCH

Three mature tree trunks, felled as part of the Burgess Park
redevelopment, have been brought to the tiny garden behind
St George the Martyr church. Local hands are needed to help
shape the logs into benches, creating a peaceful place for
individuals and community groups. No experience needed.

WATERLOO BY MAPLIGHT - GUIDED WALK WITH KEN TITMUSS

Evening walk with old maps led by Ken Titmuss. Look beyond
the bridge and round the most perplexing railway station in
London that once upon a time had a platform for the dead.
Follow a trail of topographical street names, unremarkable
buildings with remarkable stories and call up the memory of
local worthies including Emma Cons, John Rennie and the
Roupell family scandal. In the last 60 years the riverside
wharves have been transformed into the capital's cultural
quarter, yet the other three quarters of this
quintessentially London neighbourhood has a tale or two to
tell.

HELP TO SHAPE THE NEXT TATE MODERN TURBINE HALL INSTALLATION
As part of the preparations for the 2012 Unilever Series
commission for the Turbine Hall, Tate Modern is inviting SE1
residents and workers to participate in a four-day workshop
with the artist Tino Sehgal from Saturday 20 to Tuesday 23
August. Sehgal will explore ideas behind his practice with
the group. Those of all ages and experience are welcome to
volunteer to take part. Refreshments will be provided. If
