Magdalen Street-based WPF Therapy, England's largest
charitable provider of counselling and psychotherapy, is
challenging city workers to leave their desks to take part
in a 'Walk & Talk' event as part of Get Moving Week to
tackle the stigma of mental health problems. All

Refuge England (1959) records the experiences of a Hungarian
refugee arriving in London in the late 1950s. 27 minutes.
Vanishing Street (1962): Shot in and around Hessel Street in
London�s East End, this film captures a traditional London
Jewish community in the 1960s threatened by a redevelopment
scheme in the area. 20 minutes. Membership of the Community
Film Club is aimed at those living in Southwark and Lambeth.

OUTLOOK ON DIVERSITY IN SOUTHWARK AND LONDON

WATERLOO & SOUTH BANK HERITAGE PROJECT INITIAL MEETING
Wednesday 7 October
5.30pm at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, 108 Stamford
Street
Are you interested in the history and heritage of Waterloo
and the South Bank? Do you have a story about the local
community or your life that you would like to share? Would
you like to learn new skills and meet local people? Coin
Street Community Builders is looking for volunteers to lead
on the direction of the project as well as participants who
are interested in taking part in heritage trips,
intergenerational workshops, oral histories, history walks
and many more activities. The project will work towards an
exhibition next summer showcasing the huge wealth of history
and personal stories from the local area. A steering group
will meet monthly to plan the project. If you are interested
in shaping the plans or just interested in finding out more,

NATIONAL POETRY DAY LIVE! POET LAUREATE READS NEW POEM
Thursday 8 October
2pm-5pm at Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall; free
The Poetry Society marks National Poetry Day with a
centenary celebration devoted to our poetic heroes and
heroines. As the BBC announces the winner of the poll to
find the Nation's Favourite Poet, drop in to share the
excitement with an afternoon of free public events featuring
live poetry performances, film and audio archive,
interactive wordplay and poetic knitting. Poet Laureate
Carol Ann Duffy will read a new poem live at 2.30pm. Other
performers include John Hegley and Dreadlock Alien.

Resource invite you to a screening of the documentary "Myths
about Madness", which challenges stigma and attitudes
towards mental health issues. After the documentary a panel

health needs).

WAR BOOK LAUNCH IN GERALDINE MARY HARMSWORTH PARK

Imperial War Museum to celebrate the release of War � an
illustrated guide to military history from the ancient world
