10:10 EVERYBODY'S AT IT CARBON CAMPAIGN LAUNCH @ TATE MODERN
Tuesday 1 September

Climate change campaign launch event with music and more.
Free glass of champagne for first 1000 people courtesy of
Ocado. Event designed to encourage people to pledge to cut
10 per cent of their carbon emissions by the end of 2010.

wrist made from scrap metal salvaged from old airliners.

SLOW FOOD MARKET ON THE SOUTH BANK

Pestival brings in the harvest with Slow Food London and
celebrates the pollinators who make it possible. Come and

GREAT RIVER RACE 
Saturday 5 September
Competitors expected to pass Tower Bridge from 11.30am;
Lambeth Bridge from 11.50am  
Annual 22-mile race on the Thames from Greenwich to Richmond
featuring approximately 300 craft. Any traditional-style,
coxed boat, propelled by a minimum of four oars or paddles,
without sliding seats or riggers, may take part.

WHITES GROUNDS SKATE PARK NEW RAMP LAUNCH
Saturday 5 September
From 1pm at Whites Grounds Skate Park, White's Grounds; free
Whites Grounds Skate Park just got better! A new ramp has
recently been installed at Whites Grounds. Project managed
by Forge Architects and designed by Wheelscape, the new ramp
is a welcome addition to the popular skate park. To
celebrate the new ramp, Southwark Council will be holding a
special event sponsored by the Three Amigos, Caught in the
Cross fire, Rock Solid, Vans off the Wall and Wheelscape.
The event will include a number of activities including food
and drink, prizes, giveaways, skateboard and roller skate
tutorials and a competition. To register for the competition

SONGS OF PRAISE FROM SOUTHWARK
Sunday 6 September
5.30pm on BBC One
Diane-Louise Jordan visits Southwark, once home to William
Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. She meets comedian Jo
Brand, who reveals an unexpected spiritual side, and talks
to an actor who crossed the world to perform at
Shakespeare's Globe. Plus, hymns sung in Southwark
Cathedral. Look out for St George the Martyr in Borough High
Street too.
