SWING DANCE WORKSHOPS AT THE SCOOP
Tuesday 26 August
12 noon, 1pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm at The Scoop, More London; free
Learn some toe-tappers at these Swing workshops for local
residents of all ages as part of the More Creative
programme. Run by two new Create dancers, members of the
London Swing Dance Society, who will take participants
through the period's top toe-tappers: from the Charleston
Twenties to the Jiving Fifties There will be demonstrations
from the professionals between the workshops.

CREATE'S 5TH BIRTHDAY AT THE SCOOP

Free double-bill open-air dance performances celebrating
Create's 5th birthday with participants from two of the
charity's projects: adults with learning disabilities from
Bede House in Bermondsey collaborating with local children;
and young carers from Westminster.

FRAN SANDHAM: AUTHOR TALK AT JOHN HARVARD LIBRARY

Fran Sandham will discuss his new book Traversa, an account
of his solo 3,000-mile trek across Africa from the Skeleton
Coast to the Indian Ocean at Zanzibar - the first time in
history anyone has crossed Africa solo entirely on foot by

YURI GALKAN TRIO: BANKSIDE NIGHTS
Wednesday 27 August
5.30pm-8.30pm  at The George Inn, 77 Borough High Street
Yuri Galkin Trio performs well-known jazz tunes as well as a
few original compositions. Yuri Galkin has graduated from
the Royal Academy of Music in London last year. Since then,
he has performed at such significant venues as 606 Jazz
Club, Ronnie Scott's, The Bulls Head and others. Yuri has
established himself on the British jazz scene not only as a
brilliant bass player and a bandleader, but also as an
innovative composer.

These free day trips for families led by local volunteers
are designed to encourage people from all backgrounds to
sample the arts on offer in the South Bank and Bankside
area. The trips are designed for families with kids aged
3-12 but younger/older children can attend too. The groups

SEIZURE PREVIEW - SEE BLUE CRYSTAL ARTWORK IN HARPER ROAD
Saturday 30 August
12 noon-5pm  at 151-189 Harper Road; free
Seizure opens to the public on 3 September, but Artangel is
opening the project for a special preview for people local
to SE1. Come along for a sneak preview of this weird and
wonderful sculptural work, where artist Roger Hiorns has
covered the interior of an empty flat within the Lawson
Estate on Harper Road with blue copper sulphate crystals.

Southbank Centre's Voicelab is recruiting and training a
choir to take part in the entire run of the Christmas show.
This is an open workshop focusing on both singing and
movement - led by Mary King, the Director of Voicelab - in

Bankside Open Spaces Trust is looking for photographs of
Bankside's parks and open spaces and people enjoying them.
They want to show how the area has changed and keep the
archives alive, displaying them in exhibitions, leaflets and
educational materials. BOST is looking for Bankside 'park
life' photos from the 1900s to 2000. Can you help? Please
bring your photographs, negatives or slides to Red Cross
Garden where BOST has a fabulous scanner to capture your
