at Hay's Galleria,  Tooley Street

area in a different light. Plus artists' impressions of
schemes to rejuvenate the local area planned by Team London

THE BLUE MARKET: WALKABOUT CONSULTATION
Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 & Saturday 16 August
Wed 1.15pm & 8pm; Thu 9am; Sat 2.45pm  
Borough-based environmental organisation Carbon Descent is
working with Southwark Council to run a series of 90-minute
walkabouts around The Blue (Southwark Park Road) to find out
what residents think about about their area. If you've got a
bright idea for the Blue, the walks are a chance to tell the
council your opinions and play a part in shaping its future.
Everyone who takes part will receive a free energy saving

MOBILE PHONE FILM-MAKING WORKSHOPS FOR 15-20 YEAR-OLDS

Rewrite Film Festival is a mobile phone festival for young
people aged 15-20 run by Southwark Playhouse in partnership
with B3 Media and 18-year-old Street Geniuses Jade and

GRAFFITI: UTOPIA OR A BIT BORING?

The debate starts here: is street art glorified vandalism or
a legitimate cultural movement? Evening Standard art critic
Ben Lewis argues that graffiti is a bit boring really, while
writer and critic Ossian Ward defends the genre. Come along

BAFTA SUMMER SHORTS: PICTURE AND SOUND

Free late-night open-air film screenings. A contemporary
selection of BAFTA nominated and award winning short films
and animation will be projected onto the National Theatre's
flytower. Movies and music are the inspiration behind this
collection of BAFTA winners and nominees.

FESTA! BRAZILIAN THEATRE AND DANCE IN THE CUT
Saturday 16 August
5pm & 7.30pm at Young Vic, 66 The Cut; �7.50
Every year, Brazilians come together to celebrate
traditional stories of love and desire in exuberant festas
of theatre, dance and music. Starting on The Cut - which
will be closed to traffic - a carnival of song and dance
flows into the Young Vic where the myths, heroes and legends
of Brazil come to life. Led by Brazilian artists from London
and by Spetaculu of Rio de Janeiro, with almost 100
community members from Lambeth and Southwark. For ages 7+

THE BUILDINGS ARE ALIVE: NEW WORK BY LOCAL MUSICIANS
Saturday 16 August
11.30am-2pm at The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall; free
A musical and multimedia response to the current Psycho
Buildings exhibition at The Hayward, curated and featuring
new work by The Culture Collective, a group of seven young
and emerging artists working with the London Sinfonietta,
and two members of SOWF's Street Genius initiative. The
event will include performances of music by John Cage, Tansy
Davies and Dai Fujikura by members of the London
Sinfonietta, an interactive sound installation, animations
and live broadcast streams.

EVENT FOR DOG OWNERS IN SPA GARDENS, BERMONDSEY
Saturday 16 August
2pm-5pm at Spa Gardens, Grange Road; free
Southwark Community Wardens, in conjunction with the Parks
service, are hosting a series of events for local dog owners
to encourage responsible pet ownership. The event includes a
dog show and free micro-chipping. Plus plenty of other
stalls and activities. There will also be football training
sessions with Millwall Football Club for children and adults
alike.
