COMMUNITY FILM CLUB
Monday 11 February
7pm (refreshments from 6.30pm) at Starr Auditorium, Tate
Modern, Bankside; Free to members
Aunt Esther's Story (2007) by Stephen Bourne and True
Pioneer: The British Films of Paul Robeson (2007) - 15 min.
& 20 min. The evening will be introduced by Stephen Bourne
with a discussion afterwards. Using family photographs and
archive footage, Stephen Bourne tells the story of his aunt,
a working-class Black Londoner born before the First World
War. Free refreshments will be available before the film.
Membership of the Community Film Club is primarily aimed at
those living and working in Southwark and Lambeth. To become

ALSCOT ROAD STREETS FOR PEOPLE SCHEME - CONSULTATION EVENTS
Tuesday 12 February & Saturday 16 February
Tue 5pm-9pm & Sat 12 noon-4pm at Ellen Brown Bermondsey Play
Centre, 145 Grange Road
Exhibition and drop-in session to provide information about
plans to reduce the dominance of cars on residential streets
around Bermondsey Spa Gardens. The scheme covers Alscot
Road, Rouel Road, Yalding Road and Spa Road. The plans
include a 20 mph zone with traffic-calming measures. A new
car-free space will be created on Alscot Road, extending Spa
Gardens to the edge of the Vauban Estate. The plans can also
be viewed at the One Stop Shop in Spa Road until 26
February.

THE HISTORY OF MORLEY COLLEGE - FREE EARLY-EVENING LECTURE

Lecture by Brian Bloice. Morley College is running a termly
programme of free lunchtime and later 'lectures' in line
with the origins of the College and in order to raise the
profile of our work in adult education to new audiences.
Morley and The Old Vic share this history in that Emma Cons
began her successful programme of education on which Morley
College's foundations were built at the Old Vic theatre in
the 1800s.

VALENTINES NIGHT AT TOWER BRIDGE

On the evening of 14 February the spectacular high-level
walkways of the bridge will be transformed into a panoramic
platform for romance. Flowers and soft lighting set the
scene as guests sip champagne and take in the twinkling,
night-time view over London and The Thames. Live music
heightens the mood, with a seductive rendering of haunting

OPEN AUDITIONS FOR COMMUNITY PRODUCTION AT OLD VIC

BRANDED by Simon Bent begins with the launch of the most
sought-after shoe on Earth but as the world clamours for
this season's 'must have' who's prepared to sell their soul
for a sole? This is an exciting new multi-media piece
incorporating drama, film, music, visuals, dance and
physical theatre to create an exhilarating theatrical event
for the world famous Old Vic stage in May 2008. The Old Vic
is looking for talented performers to join the company. If
you are an actor or acrobat, dancer or DJ, singer or street
runner, MC or musician and have natural rhythm then The Old
Vic wants to hear from you. Simply complete the audition
form and send it to the theatre. Applicants must be aged 16
or over on 17 March 2008. There is no upper age limit.
