An opportunity to join the Committee. No experience needed.

If you care about what gets built and happens locally over
the next few years this is an opportunity to join us and
influence the development of the area.

The Committee meets every 6 weeks on a Monday evening for
two hours and people stay in touch by email and phone.
Meetings are informal with some light refreshments. You will
be very welcome.

BRF receives a grant from Southwark Council and employs a
part-time coordinator who represents the group at meetings,
and manages and steers the work

SIR PETER BLAKE ON THE 'COKE SIDE OF LIFE' - JUBILEE GARDENS
Until Thursday 23 August
Sir Peter Blake will be working on the piece on Tuesday 2pm
and Thursday 8.30am at Jubilee Gardens (by the flagpole).
Sir Peter Blake has been commissioned by Coca-Cola to create
a stunning piece of pop art celebrating summer on the South
Bank. Sir Peter and his team will spend one week creating a
20ft high work of art, live on the north-western corner of
Jubilee Gardens.

AN EVENING WITH TIM PARKS
Tuesday 21 August
7pm at Calder Bookshop, 51 The Cut
Novelist, translator and travel writer Tim Parks, who has
lived near Verona for over twenty years, will talks about
his fascination with Italy and read from a selection of his
work.

FREE RUSH HOUR CONCERT AT ST JOHN'S WATERLOO
Thursday 23 August
6pm-7.15pm  at St John's Waterloo,  Waterloo Road; free
Enjoy a glass of wine and hear some fantastic music
performed by Britain's brightest young musical stars.
Conducted by Stephen Bell, the orchestra will perform
Arnold's Sinfonietta No 1, John Rutter's Suite for Strings
and Richard Rodney Bennett's Partita. Roderick Elms will
join Southbank Sinfonia to perform his Celeste Concertino.

SENSORY GUIDED TOUR - JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH

Have your senses switched on during these walking tours
based on a major new art work commissioned by London
Underground's art programme Platform for Art at London
Bridge and Southwark Underground stations. Led by theatre
director Cassie Werber, the interactive tours are a unique
opportunity to join a tasting session at Borough Market and
explore 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth', a series of
large-scale photographic artworks celebrating the heritage
of cookery and Underground travel by artist Gayle Chong Kwan
with station staff, catering students, market traders and
waiters from Roast restaurant. Attendees must have a valid
Zone 1 ticket or Oyster Card. Booking essential.

JAZZ IN THE SOUTH WEST CHURCHYARD AT SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL
Saturday 25 August
12.30pm-2pm  at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge; free
Dom James and his Dixie Ticklers would like to provide the
first chapter in the development of jazz for you with an
atomic Dixieland explosion. Combining some of the brightest
young talent in the UK, with the oldest charts from New
Orleans archives, their goal is to entertain with skill and
charm.
