DISNEY'S THE JUNGLE BOOK KIDS - FREE OPEN-AIR THEATRE

The Steam Industry presents the professional premiere of the
new kids' theatre version of this classic cartoon. Friends
and family of all ages will enjoy hits like The Bare
Necessities and I Wanna Be Like You as the Mancub Mowgli
calls on pals Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the Panther to
escape Shere Khan the tiger and the outrageous monkey King
Louie. Once again the award-winning team collaborates with
National Theatre puppeteers to create an unforgettable 60
minute blend of comedy, song, dance and puppetry as they
bring a fresh look at your favourite Jungle Book characters
and songs.

GASLIGHT COMMUNITY DAY AT THE OLD VIC
Wednesday 8 August
10.30am-4.30pm  at The Old Vic, 103 The Cut; �5 for
Lambeth/Southwark residents
Gaslight, the powerful story of a young woman
psychologically dominated by her husband, is currently
thrilling audiences at The Old Vic. Written by Patrick
Hamilton and directed by Peter Gill, it stars Kenneth
Cranham, Rosamund Pike and Andrew Woodall. While Jack
Manningham (Woodall) is out on the town, his wife Bella
(Pike) stays at home alone, believing she's losing her mind.
Mysterious footsteps are heard overhead and the living room
gaslights flicker up and down. Questions about Jack's true
identity are aroused following the unexpected arrival of
Detective Rough (Cranham). Residents of Lambeth and
Southwark can explore Victorian melodrama and culture in a
specially devised workshop. * Write your own thriller
casting yourself as the murderous villain * Become a
flawless host with a lesson in Victorian etiquette * Take to
the stage in your own melodrama Then enjoy a matinee
performance of Gaslight. Tickets must be collected from the
box office in person with proof of residence in
Lambeth/Southwark.

LONDON POETRY FESTIVAL IN WATERLOO

The London Poetry Festival grew out of Poet's Letter
Magazine Poetry Performance and Live Music Series that
started in March 2005 at the Poetry Cafe, Covent Garden.

JAZZ IN THE SOUTH WEST CHURCHYARD AT SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL
Saturday 11 August

Dom James and his Dixie Ticklers would like to provide the
first chapter in the development of jazz for you with an
atomic Dixieland explosion. Combining some of the brightest
young talent in the UK, with the oldest charts from New
Orleans archives, their goal is to entertain with skill and
charm.

BLUE PLAQUE UNVEILING AT RED CROSS GARDEN
Sunday 12 August
2pm-3pm  at Red Cross Garden,  Redcross Way; free
Join Bankside Open Spaces Trust and the Army Cadet Force for
an outdoor ceremony to unveil a blue plaque voted for by the
residents of Southwark. Watch the parade of army cadets and
hear  speeches about the achievements of Octavia Hill.

FREE SWIMMING FOR KIDS AND WATERLOO SWIMMING CLUB
During this summer holiday kids (under 16s) can swim for
FREE at the Oasis Sports Centre 10am-2pm Monday to Friday
and at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre 10am-12 noon and 1pm-3pm
