DOGGETT'S COAT & BADGE RACE ON THE THAMES
Monday 16 July
Starts 12 noon at London Bridge; free
Annual scullers' river race from London Bridge to Cadogan
Pier at Chelsea founded by Thomas Doggett and first
contested in 1715. The young contestants, newly qualified
Thames Watermen and Lightermen, are followed by a flotilla
of spectator launches on the four mile, five furlong course.

FREE OUTDOOR EXTRAVAGANZA - OFF THE WALL: STAN WON'T DANCE

9pm in Southbank Centre Square, Belvedere Road; free
Stan Won't Dance's free, large-scale outdoor extravaganza
incorporates dance, physical theatre, parkour, abseiling,
aerial circus and singing. Off The Wall, a Southbank Centre
commission, features a cast of more than 100 performers and
is directed and choreographed by Liam Steel and Rob Tannion
of Stan Won't Dance, resident artists at Southbank Centre,
collaborating with designer Michael Pavelka and an
international ensemble of circus artists, dancers and free
runners, including internationally renowned Canadian parkour
artist Troy Feldman.

THE FIGHT - BOXING MEETS ART IN TURBINE HALL, TATE MODERN
Saturday 21 July
6pm-9pm at Tate Modern, Bankside; free
A spectacular one-off event involving amateur boxing clubs,
musicians and dancers from Southwark. This boxing, music and
dance performance, has been conceived by the Panamanian-born
artist Humberto Velez and will take place in a boxing ring
on the bridge in The Turbine Hall. More than 100 boxers from
three boxing clubs will parade through the gallery and a
selection of the best will perform in the ring. 
Members of the boxing clubs will arrive from the Millennium
Bridge and the Thames as two simultaneous processions, one
led by a bagpiper and one led by two African drummers.
