WHAT'S IN IT FOR US? COMMUNITY FILM CLUB AT TATE MODERN
Monday 9 July
7pm (refreshments 6.30pm) at Tate Modern, Bankside; free
A series of short films and a discussion involving young
people from SE1 United. All ages welcome. Membership of the
Community Film Club is primarily aimed at those living and
working in Southwark and Lambeth. To become a member email

Programme includes excerpts from We Are the Lambeth Boys
(1958), a modern film about Alford House and a film by
members of the SE1 United youth forum.

CHAPLIN CLOSE OPEN DAY
Tuesday 10 July
1pm-5pm at Chaplin Close (Valentine Place/Boundary Row)
Entertainment in a beautiful garden. Residents of the
sheltered housing at Chaplin Close are looking for possible
future tenants, friends, volunteers and local people to
share their activities and space. A sandwiches & cakes tea
available for �1.50 with as much tea as you can drink.

TAI CHI CLASS AT THE SCOOP
Wednesday 11 July
7.30am-8.30am at The Scoop,  More London Riverside; free
In conjunction with the health club 37 Degrees More London
is offering free Tai Chi classes on Wednesday mornings
throughout July. No need to book - just turn up in the
amphitheatre in comfortable, loose clothing 10 minutes
before the start to register.

WATERLOO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP GENERAL MEETING
Wednesday 11 July
4pm (note time!) at Waterloo Action Centre, 14 Baylis Road
Regular public meeting of the group that monitors proposed
developments in Waterloo.  Agenda includes the future of the
Living Space in Waterloo Road and the latest on the
Elizabeth House development in York Road with architect

BBC 'HOW WE BUILT BRITAIN' PHOTOGRAPHY EVENT AT MORE LONDON 
Thursday 12 July
10am-4pm at More London Riverside, Tooley Street; free
Following on from the TV series "How we Built Britain" the
BBC wants to get the public out and about taking photographs
of their local area and sharing them with wider communities.
BBC Learning buses will be at More London offering free
photographic workshops.

THE INDIGO SAXOPHONE QUARTET: MUSICAL CHAIRS IN CATHEDRAL SQ

HAMPTON HOUSE REDEVELOPMENT EXHIBITION - ALBERT EMBANKMENT
Thursday 12 and Saturday 14 July
Thu 3pm-8pm; Sat 10am-2pm at 20 Albert Embankment
Newlands Enterprises are proposing to redevelop the site
currently occupied by Hampton House on the Albert
Embankment. The building is currently used by the London
Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA). A "landmark
commercial and residential building" is proposed.

WATERLOO CARNIVAL
Friday 13 July
Events 12 noon-6pm; procession 1.30pm-2pm; free
Taking you 'Under the Sea' with spectacular themed costumes,
music and entertainment. The carnival procession will take
place from 1.30pm-2pm along Lower Marsh and on Waterloo
Millennium Green involving a range of people from the
Waterloo community aged from 2 to 82. From 12 noon to 6pm
visitors can enjoy live entertainment by Valentinos Street
Band, carnival street performers and a salsa stage, while
browsing the special market featuring exotic fresh food,
drinks and smoothies and gifts. From 6pm there will be a
street party, entertainment, puppetry and live music along
Lower Marsh and outside Scooterworks, to take you into the
evening.

12.45pm-1.45pm St Peter's Church, Liverpool Grove, where
there'll be a vegetarian lunch and a prayer room available
2.30pm-3.30pm Samye Dzong Buddhist Centre, Manor Place SE17
3.50pm-4.50pm St George's Roman Catholic Cathedral SE1
5pm-5.30pm Tibetan Peace Garden, GMH Park SE1
You can join at any point on the way. Please dress modestly
and take shoes off at the mosques and Buddhist centre and
women cover their heads at the mosques.

TURKISH FEST AT THE COIN STREET FESTIVAL
Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 July
12pm-7pm at Bernie Spain Gardens,  Upper Ground; free
Back for a fourth year running is Turkish Fest - a feast of
Turkish culture with music, dance, food & crafts stalls,
family workshops and much more. The music line-up showcases
a mix of traditional and contemporary sounds including folk.
Plus fabulous displays of belly dancing. Enjoy the delicious
variety of Turkish food and drink from pilav and dolma to
lokum (turkish delight) and baklava. There are also stalls
selling Turkish textiles, jewellery and other crafts to take
home. Organised by Turkish Forum UK.
