lends its title to an evening of English and European
theatre, interlaced with musical interludes.  It takes place

meetings are open all who live in Bishop's Ward or who have
an interest in local matters.

TRACHINIAE: THE KING'S COLLEGE GREEK PLAY

SWITCHED ON LONDON: LIGHTING FESTIVAL IN THE POOL OF LONDON
Thursday 8 to Friday 16 February
Daily 4pm-12 midnight around the Pool of London
A nine-night celebration of the relationship between light,
architecture and the city. Temporarily and spectacularly
illuminating some of the Pool of London's landmarks
including HMS Belfast, City Hall, Tower Bridge, the Design
Museum and the Tower of London.

SOUTH EAST LONDON FOLKLORE SOCIETY
Thursday 8 February
7.30pm-11pm  at The Old King's Head, Kings Head Yard, 45-49
Borough High Street; �2.50 (conc �1.50)
Local historian Neil Gordon-Orr gives an illustrated talk on
deities, saints and sacred sites celebrated within half a
mile of SELFS's new venue. A bronze age barrow at London
Bridge, dog burials in Borough High Street and the recently
discovered Roman temples of Tabard Square will all feature.
The area's shamanic poet John Constable talks about his
experiences of the Southwark Mysteries.

FREE POOL OF LONDON BOAT TRIP FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS/WORKERS
Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 February
Trips start 9.30am, 11.30am & 2pm; free (booking info below)
The City of London branch of the Maritime Volunteer Service
is offering local residents and other local people a
two-hour boat trip around the Pool of London on board their
45 foot launch Londinium 1. Participants will be told about
the history and maritime heritage of the Pool of London.
There are 10 places available on each trip, making a total
of 60 people.  The trip is free but places must be booked.
