TREE DRESSING DAY IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN
Tuesday 12 December
10.30am-12.30pm in the Community Garden at Tate Modern,
Bankside; free
Make Christmas pomanders and decorations out of found
materials and dress the trees with recycled materials
Community Initiatives at Tate Modern, in partnership with
Bankside Open Spaces Trust are continuing to develop the
community garden space for use by the local community. Those
that live near to the gallery who may not have a lot of
outdoor space are particularly encouraged to visit the

FANTO'S MONSTER PANTO

INDIGO SAXOPHONE QUARTET: MUSICAL CHAIRS @ BOROUGH MARKET
Thursday 14 December
12.30pm-1.30pm  at Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street; free
A selection of light classical to more jazzy pieces.  Third
in a series of free weekly concerts in the run up to the
Bankside Frost Fair.  Local employees are encouraged to
bring along their lunches and take a seat at one of Better
Bankside's pink tables and chairs.  The Better  Bankside
rangers will distribute information on other events such as
the Bankside Frost Fair and the Bring a Better Christmas
appeal. There will also be an opportunity to purchase
Christmas cards with profits going to charity and comment on
the Bankside Urban Park proposals.

ST JOHN'S GARDEN CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

4pm-6.30pm  at St John's Waterloo, Waterloo Road; free
The new St John's Garden is opening with a Christmas
celebration.
* Welcome speech in church hall 5pm
* Opening ceremony in the new garden 5.10pm
* Followed by lantern lit carols and music  
Lots to see and do! 
Mosaic making and sale, Lantern and Christmas Craft
workshops, Drumming class with master percussionist (for
ages 10 yrs plus), Refreshments, Bric a brac sale, Community
stalls, Art exhibition, plants for sale... Plus join the new
Friends of St John's Garden group.

BANKSIDE FROST FAIR - WITH HUSKY SLEDDING RIDES
Friday 15 to Sunday 17 December
Fri 4pm-9pm; Sat 10am-9pm; Sun 10am-6pm on the Bankside
riverside walkway; free
Bankside will yet again be home to the 4th annual Frost Fair
outside Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Last year's
event attracted more than 100,000 people making it London's
largest free winter event.
