CANDLELIT CONCERT IN SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL
Wednesday 6 February at 8pm
A rare opportunity to hear two contrasted settings of
the liturgical mass by Igor Stravinsky and Anton
Bruckner within the magical candlelit interior of
Southwark Cathedral. These choral masterpieces will be
sung by the renowned Philharmonia Chorus conducted by
their Artistic Director Robert Dean. The choir is
accompanied by the Wallace Collection who will also
perform Trisagion (for brass quintet) by John Taverner.

This is the title of John Tusa's important book in
which he affirms that art is for everyone. Tonight he
discusses it with Sir John Drummond whose own
autobiography is out in paperback. John Tusa now runs
the Barbican Centre. Drummond has been Controller of
Radio 3, Director of The Proms and Director of the
Edinburgh Festival, and was once described as "the
fastest tongue in the west". Both will discuss exactly
why 'Art Matters'.
