BOROUGH MARKET WELCOMES THE HAGGIS
Thursday 21 January
11am-5pm  at Jubilee Market, Borough Market, 8 Southwark
Street; free
In anticipation of Burns Night on January 25, Borough Market
is holding a Hebridean and Scottish-themed event. There will
be cooking demonstrations from Graham Harvey and Sheila
McConachie, owners of Craggan Mill Restaurant and authors of
'The Whisky Kitchen', as well as whisky-tasting sessions
from The Whisky Exchange, a traditional pipe band, and
performances from the Royal Scottish Dancers.

BOROUGH & BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Daytime meeting of the community council with a focus on

TRY MOSAIC-MAKING
Thursday 21 January
4pm-7pm at Tabard Community Hall, Hankey Place
If you enjoy making mosaics or would like to give it a try,
please come to Tabard Community Hall (aka Hankey Hall) on
Thursday evenings throughout January and February. Sessions
are from 4pm to 8pm, starting Thursday 14 January (sessions
on 21 Jan and 18 Feb finish at 7pm). Sessions are free,
drop-in, creative and family-friendly. Finished artworks
will create a mosaic pathway and large herb bed on the
Tabard Allotment, Manciple Street. You can also make your
own house number plate to take home.

BROKEN CROCKERY WANTED
Old crockery, cups, plates, china,kitchen and bathroom
tiles, broken jewellery and bits of bling are needed for the
Tabard Community Allotment Mosaic Project. Items can be
brought to the free mosaic-making sessions at Tabard
Community Hall on Thursdays or leave them in the special bin
at the community allotment on Manciple Street.

LOVE FOOD HATE WASTE: FREE SPAGHETTI MEASURER
Saturday 23 January
10am-3pm  at Tesco Southwark,  Old Kent Road; free
Learning to love food and hate waste could shave up to �50 a
month off your food bill. You'll also be doing the
environment a favour by keeping your leftovers out of
landfill where they produce greenhouse gases such as
methane, which contributes to climate change. Veolia's
friendly team will be providing tips and you can also pick
up a free spaghetti measurer, so you need never cook too
much again.

JUNIOR TENNIS CLASSES AT TANNER STREET TENNIS COURTS
Come along to Saturdays 10am to 11.30am ages 10 and under,
11.30am to 1pm ages 11 and up.  All welcome.  Cost �7 per
half term, children should join Southwark City Tennis Club
(cost �7 valid to April 2011) and this includes membership
of the Lawn Tennis Association. The club organises lots of
tournaments, holiday coaching and events at our main venue
in Burgess Park. 


FREE TENNIS COACHING FOR WOMEN
Free tennis sessions (age 16+) every Saturday from 9th
January to 20th March (but not 20th Feb) from 12 noon to
1.30pm at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, beginners welcome,
rackets and balls provided, just turn up! More details
[email protected]  Anyone attending at least
six of the ten sessions will receive half price membership
of Southwark City Tennis Club and half price for the next
coaching course.  The sessions are delivered as part of Play
Sport London (Winter 2009).

beginners focusing on Finger Picking Acoustic Guitar

mechanics and the art of doing allowing playing within a
short period of time
