SEE SOUTHWARK INSIDE OUT: PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 August
10am-6pm at Menier Gallery, 51 Southwark Street; free
This exhibition investigates - and celebrates - the 'spirit
of social change' in Southwark through a series of
intriguing photographs. Taken over a period of three days
and nights in July 2008, within a five minute walk of the
Menier Gallery itself, the photographs document ordinary and
extraordinary life in one of London's most fascinating,
ancient neighbourhoods as it confronts the pressures of 21st
century social change. Clive Boursnell, the exhibition
photographer, has recently worked with Peter Ackroyd to
recapture the spirit of old Covent Garden Market in the
1960s and 70s. Now, he's trying to catch a glimpse of
history-in-the-making across the river in Southwark.
