WATERLOO WALK WITH OLD MAPS
Saturday 23 November
11am; 10 (conc 8); email [email protected] to book
Join Ken Titmuss for a walk with old maps exploring the
neighbourhood with more topographical street names than
usual, reflecting its marshy past. Along the way you will
encounter the legacy of a Georgian scrap dealer, a theatre
whose temperance past gave us a popular adult education
institution and follow a lost river to where it joins the
Thames. Then there is the stop start story of Londons
favourite bridge and the railway station that just kept
expanding. As befits a locale where journeys begin and
continue, the walk ends at the Four Corners Cafe, a place
for nourishment and sharing stories.

CAR BOOT DISCO
Sunday 24 November
3pm-7pm  at Ministry of Sound, 103 Gaunt Street; free;
register at www.vInspired.com/gettrashed
Youth charity vInspired hosts an eco fashion and music party
aimed at raising awareness of clothing landfill with young
Londoners. This free party is aimed at young people in
London who are bored with their wardrobes and want a fresh
update, but without the cost. vInspired is inviting anyone
with swapable clothes to come along to the event and take
home something that is new to them but unwanted by someone
else. DJs will be spinning tunes all afternoon and some of
London's rising fashion talent will be coming along to
customise outfits. There will also be scouts from a top
London model agency. The Car Boot Disco launches vInspired's
Get Trashed campaign to save over 10,000 clothes from
landfill before the end of the year. It will create a tribe
of young people dedicated to re-using, recycling and having
fun while looking good at the same time. Young people will
feel part of a movement, putting the issue of waste front of
mind empowering them to run their own events and spread
the message via the Do Something channels, social media and
word-of-mouth. Guests are required to bring 2-5 items to
swap. These must be washed, of a good enough quality they'd
be happy to wear themselves. No swimwear, underwear or
jewellery will be accepted.
