SFM SOUP SALE
Tuesday 9 February
12pm-2pm  at Jubilee Place, Borough Market, Winchester Walk
Borough Market is collaborating with food education charity
School Food Matters to tackle the problem of food waste.
Local secondary school pupils will sell homemade soups made
from surplus vegetables to raise valuable funds for
FareShare, an organisation which diverts good food destined
for the bin to good causes.

PANCAKE RACE IN PRICE'S STREET, BANKSIDE
Tuesday 9 February
12pm at OXBO Bankside, Hilton London Bankside,  Bear Lane
In celebration of Shrove Tuesday, OXBO Bankside is hosting a
pancake race down Price's Street at midday. With a chance of
winning the prize of a 3 course meal plus a bottle of house
wine, passers-by will be encouraged to join in, tossing
pancakes whilst running as fast as they can from one end of
the street to the other. Contestants can also stop by OXBO
Bankside restaurant on the day for all-you-can-eat pancakes
and a glass of prosecco, all for just �14 per person, with
an extensive selection of toppings, including whipped cream,
chocolate sauce, almonds, hazelnuts, chocolate chips, banana
slices, fresh strawberries, orange segments, pear compote,
golden syrup and even popping candy.

BETTER BANKSIDE PANCAKE RACE AT MARLBOROUGH SPORTS GARDEN
Tuesday 9 February
12.30pm-2.30pm  at Marlborough Playground,  Union Street
Come and support members of the Bankside business community
as they show off their pancake-tossing skills at this annual
charity Pancake Day Race. All proceeds raised will go to
support Paintings in Hospitals, a local charity that places
fine art in clinical settings. NB due to rail viaduct works
at Borough Market, this year's race is at a new venue.

THE FLIPPING MARVELLOUS LONDON BRIDGE CITY PANCAKE RACE
Tuesday 9 February
12.30pm-2pm  at More London & Hay's Galleria
The race is hosted by London Bridge City and London Bubble, a Rotherhithe-based theatre company. 
The event will raise funds for London Bubble's Young Theatre
Makers programme which has been working with vulnerable
young people in the local area since 2011.

Michael Leach will give a piano recital including pieces by
Scarlatti, Janacek, Berg and Ravel. The recital lasts approx
45 minutes, followed by light refreshments and a chance to

TWISTS & TRANSFORMATION: DICKENS' LONDON BOROUGH
Saturday 13 February
11am-1pm  at Borough Underground Station,  Borough High
Street; free
This is a free guided walk through the streets of Old
Borough and London Bridge following the 'Twists and
Transformations' of Dickens' early childhood. This walk
revisits the highways and byways of early Victorian London
encountering the traumatic twists in Dicken's early years as
he took his first tentative steps into this new city of
opportunity starting with the debtors prison of Marshalsea
and in the places Dickens frequented: the quiet graveyard of
St George the Martyr, the bustling fruit and veg market, Old
London Bridge. Part of Southwark Hidden Stories Walks with
CoolWalks.
