FREEMASONRY IN SOUTHWARK AND LAMBETH

Freemasonry is a long-estasblished fraternal organisation
for men. What it is about and what freemasons do is often
the subject of speculation, rather than evidence. This talk
looks at Southwark and Lambeth's masonic life, the lodges
established here, their characteristics and membership, and
at important masonic personalities associated with the area
and local institutions associated with the masonic world. It
also talks about sources available for further study.

THE DRAGON QUEST

dragons around The Borough in the area once known as St
George's Fields. Come and help solve the clues to find the
many dragons, and saints, who live hidden around Borough

NINE DAYS WONDER - WITH ARTHUR SMITH & RICK JONES

Arthur Smith and Rick Jones present their annual celebration
of Shakespeare's birthday in words and music. This year's
event is inspired by the the 100-mile morris dance by
Shakespeare's clown Will Kemp from London to Norwich in

DARK AEMILIA: A GUIDED WALK THROUGH SHAKESPEARE'S LONDON

BERMONDSEY WALK WITH OLD MAPS

Ken Titmuss leads a walk with old maps exploring London's
one-time leather-making district. Among the warehouses you
will find houses from the 17th century and see how the Watch
House has found a new lease of life. You may be surprised
when you reach the Victorian smithy and then there is the
site of the Workhouse and how the Beautification transformed
it. The walk ends by an amazing fragment of Bermondsey Abbey
at the end of one of London's most eclectic streets.

SPRING PLANTS & GARDENS FAIR

The Garden Museum's annual date for plant lovers will
feature a wide selection of stalls from specialist nurseries
and horticulturists, as well as family-friendly activities.
Our popular Spring Plants and Gardens Fair is the perfect
occasion to purchase some new plants and ask the experts for
advice, while enjoying the Museum's 17th Century style knot
garden with a vegetarian lunch from the Museum's Garden
Caf�. This will also be a great opportunity to see our
temporary exhibitions 'The Education of a Gardener: The Life
& Work of Russell Page' and 'A Space for Flowers: The New
Covent Garden Flower Market'.

ST GEORGE'S DAY AT BOROUGH MARKET
Sunday 26 April
12pm-4pm  at Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street; free
England and Catalonia share a patron saint - St George - and
the Catalan Government has teamed up with Borough Market to
organise this celebratory event. While the Borough Market
traders will be selling both Catalan and English food,
different performances will be taking place at the stage
located at the core of the market. Visitors will get a taste
of English folk and sardanes dancers - a circle dance
typical of Catalonia - and they will enjoy performances by
the Orfe� Catal� � the most historic Catalan choir - the
Catalan theatre company Bots&Barrals and the Catalan
actress-singer Laia Martinez, who will tell the story of St
George and the dragon to the little ones. In addition, the
romantic Catalan custom of exchanging roses and books with
the beloved ones will be one of the attractions of the
Catalan stands.
