POLYPHONY DOWN THE PUB
Monday 13 April
7pm at The Horse & Stables, 122-124 Westminster Bridge Road;
free
Experimental singing/socialising event - a pub 'jam' session
but instead of playing folk music or jazz, people turn up to
sing a cappella masterpieces from the 16th century by
Palestrina, Victoria and others. No audition, no rehearsal,
no performance; just people in a pub making music. Anyone
who can read music and wants to take part should download
the sheet music from the PDtP website; anyone who doesn't
read music is still welcome to come along and listen.

DARWIN'S STRANGEST BEASTS: PROFESSOR IAN BARNES

History Museum will be talking about his recent research on

PUBLIC EXHIBITION AT TOWER BRIDGE MAGISTRATES' COURT

Dominvs Group owns the former magistrates' court and intends
to convert the building into a boutique hotel. Dominvs is
inviting people who live and work in the area to attend a
public exhibition offering the opportunity to comment and
provide feedback on the emerging plans. The developers say
that feedback will be reviewed before the plans are
submitted to Southwark Council. Members of the project team
will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. For

RUSH HOUR CONCERT

BOROUGH MARKET CHOIR
Thursday 16 April
6.30pm-8pm  at Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street
Borough Market Choir is a non-auditioning community choir
which rehearses on Thursday evenings and sings purely for
fun. The choir begins its 12th season of 10 weeks of singing
on 16 April in the Borough Market offices. They are hoping
to have 70 singers join the event - perhaps you're one of
them? Fees are �75 for the 10-week season, but your first

COOLTAN ARTS LARGACTYL SHUFFLE: I HAVE A DREAM WALK
Saturday 18 April
11.45am-4pm  at Tate Modern,  Bankside; free; donations
welcome
Starting at Tate Modern, this local guided walk will include
talks about the campaign to abolish the slave trade, civil
rights, the state of the NHS, homelessness, and ends at the
Aylesbury Estate with a talk about the current housing
crisis. CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle is a guided,
stigma-busting cultural walk, designed to encourage mental
and physical wellbeing, through art, exercise, humour and
history. The walk is suitable for all levels of walking and
is accessible to wheelchair users and people with
disabilities. Join in for as long or as little as you like.
Meet outside the entrance of Tate Modern at 11.45am. The
walk leaders wear orange high-viz vests and rucksacks. Call
CoolTan Arts on 07985 658443 if you cannot find the walking
group on the day. The walk is free but voluntary donations
will be appreciated, all money goes to CoolTan Arts. Please
wear comfortable shoes and bring your own water. All are
welcome.

SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY
Sunday 19 April
11am-4.30pm  at Shakespeare's Globe,  New Globe Walk; free
Shakespeare's Globe will celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday
with its annual day of free family events, throwing open its
doors for a Hamlet-themed day of celebrations on Bankside.
This year's activities will include an Elsinore bouncy
castle, sword-fighting demonstrationss, skull coconut shies
and a grave-digging ball pool. Actors who have taken on the
role of Hamlet through the ages will be on the Globe stage
attempting to deliver the quickest reading of the play ever,
and famous film adaptations of the play will be shown around
the site, including Laurence Olivier's (1948), Mel Gibson's
(1990) and Kenneth Branagh's (1996) take on the Prince of
Denmark.
