CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES AT ELEPHANT & CASTLE SHOPPING CENTRE
Until Wednesday 24 December
Times vary at Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre; free
Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre is hosting festive face
painting by Santa's Elves, photo opportunities in the Giant
Snow Globe and a 'Letter to Santa' Workshop.
On Christmas Eve from 12 noon, you will also have the chance
to meet Santa, who is coming to visit with one of his
helpful little Elves with seasonal gifts for one and all.

CAROLS WITH SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL'S MERBECKE CHOIR
Monday 22 December
1pm-2pm  at Central Hall, St Thomas' Hospital,  Westminster
Bridge Road; free
Southwark Cathedral's choir for young adults performs a
programme of carols. Part of Breathe Arts Health Research's
programme of lunchtime music in local hospitals.

MINIMAL NATIVITY
Tuesday 23 December to Friday 3 January
at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge
Emilie Voirin re-designs and re-choreographs traditional
Catholic iconography in order to modernise the visual
culture of religious faith. Emilie has recreated the
nativity scene with a minimum amount of features while still
representing the story. The Minimal Nativity is a life-sized
version of a thought-provoking product Minimal Nativity Set.

SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL CAROL SERVICE
Tuesday 23 December
6.30pm (doors open 5.30pm) at Southwark Cathedral,  London
Bridge
Traditional pattern of lessons and carols with the Southwark
Cathedral Choir. Doors will open one hour before the service
starts. Groups needs to ensure that all of their party is
together before entering the Cathedral, as reserving seats
will not be permitted. Any member of the group arriving
after the rest of their party has entered will have to go to
the back of the queue.

CHRISTMAS DAY CYCLE RIDE
Thursday 25 December
Meet 10am at Cutty Sark or 11am at Southwark Needle, London
Bridge; free

The London Cycling Campaign presents the 13th Christmas Day
Ride, following a tradition started in 2002 by the late
Barry Mason. Meet at 10am at Cutty Sark Gardens in Greenwich
or 11am at the Southwark Needle. From London Bridge the
route will include a loop round Southwark to take in
locations association with Charles Dickens, including the
site of the Marshalsea Prison and the various local streets
named after Dickens characters. The ride will cross
Southwark Bridge and pass St Paul's Cathedral before
meandering through Clekenwell and Covent Garden en route to
the Royal Parks, ending in Edgware Road for a meal in a
Lebanese restaurant. Previous rides have attracted more than
100 riders of all ages and backgrounds.

BERMONDSEY WALK WITH OLD MAPS
Monday 29 December
11am-1pm; �10 (conc �8); booking [email protected] by
9am on day
Join Ken Titmuss for a guided walk with old maps around a
neighbourhood that grew around an abbey then became London's
leather making district. Featuring lots of industrial
buildings and a row of 17th century houses where you least
expect to see them. The walk shows how the now rare Watch
House has found a new lease of life and ends by a fragment
of the medieval abbey.
