A series of lunchtime language courses will be running from
Thursday September 26th to Thursday November 28th

The lunchtime and evening courses will be held in-house at 
More London and are open to beginners, intermediate and
advanced speakers of French, Spanish and Italian. There are
also beginners and intermediate in Portuguese and German.

tour as part of the Living Memory heritage project. Explore
the heritage of this lovely Victorian park, teeming with
wildlife. Find out about Archbishop Temple, the old tuck

archive photos to compare the old and the new and hear about

THE NEW ELEPHANT

A group of architecture students from London Metropolitan
University has spent the past year working in and around
Elephant & Castle trying to gain an understanding of the
people and area and looking at Lend Lease's proposals for
the Heygate Estate. The group has produced a collection of
projects which aimed to critique the developer's masterplan
proposals. There are three opportunities to view the group's
ideas: on Tuesday 14 August, Friday 17 August and Wednesday
22 August.

Help to bring Archbishop�s Park alive with circus, bouncy
castle, outdoor gallery, acoustic music and sport for all.
People of all ages, abilities and disabilities welcome. Try
circus classes and face painting from Hangar Arts Trust,
have a go on a tricycle with Wheels for Wellbeing, get Dr
Bike to fix your bicycle, join in Let�s Get Cooking with
Eden Caterers or make an artwork with Block 336. Visit the
pop-up Cinema Museum, sit down for afternoon tea and cake
then enjoy a Pimms in the evening with acoustic music and a

366 DAYS OF KINDNESS - COME AND JOIN IN
Saturday 18 August
11am-7pm  at Woolfson & Tay, 12 Bermondsey Square
Meet writer, performer and comedian Bernadette Russell, who
will be exhibiting her work 366 Days of Kindness at W&T
during August. In response to the London riots, Bernadette
was inspired to do one act of kindness for a stranger
everyday for a year. Bernadette will be at the shop
throughout the day, and invites you to come and see the
exhibition, say hello, do an act of kindness for a stranger
and share your tales with her.

LATINO FESTIVAL BY CARNAVAL DEL PUEBLO
Saturday 18 August
12pm-9pm  at The Coronet, 28 New Kent Road; �3 from

Despite London Pleasure Gardens going into administration
and cancelling all its events including Carnaval del Pueblo,
the CdP team has put together smaller festival to be held at
the Elephant. Latino Festival promises a programme of live
music, dance and capoeira from top of the range artists
including Fulanito, Tato Marenco Band, Oi Brasil, Fuerza
Vallenata, Cumbe, Tungurahua, Valenciz, Shakirita, Ayra
Valentina and the Mestizo Folk group. There will also be an
Andean Room and free salsa dance classes all day and music
from some of London's best latino DJs.

THE GUT CLUB AT BERMONDSEY SQUARE
Sunday 19 August
1pm-6pm  at Bermondsey Square; free
A a one-day event including talks, screenings
and performance examining our primitive relationship to the
production, processing and consumption of food. Founded by
Joel Gray and Nick Simonin, The Gut Club draws on many
collaborators, artists, curators, musicians, actors,
gardeners, foragers and butchers who believe that food is,
and always will be, at the center of human cultural
practice. For the event on Bermondsey Square they will be
performing fresh recipes and edible offerings to the public
free of charge. The food will accompany a series of talks.
There will also be a series of film screenings in Shortwave
Cinema. Contributors include philosopher and gastrosopher
Professor Harald Lemke, psychologist Dr Tiina Eilola,
anthropologist Amy Godfrey-Smythe and forager Rupert
Burdock.
