WATERLOO LIBRARY BOOK GROUP

The group is reading Journey by Moonlight by Antal Szerb.
The library buys 15 copies of each title chosen. The titles
range from contemporary bestsellers, to award-winners and
the occasional classic. New members always welcome.

A surrealistic aerial storytelling and live art performance
installation in the yard at the junction of St George's
Circus, Borough Road and Library Street. Featuring the
real-time animated digital sceneography of Jaime Valtierra &
Prasanth Visweswaran, a Routemaster bus, and performances
from talented PAC founders Andrea Meneses Guerrero and
Dagmara Bilon. Taking inspiration from the story of the
Delphic Oracle, the show features aerial, mime, voice and
projections; fire, shadow and object manipulations.

EXCHANGING PLACES: CYCLISTS CAN SIT IN CAB OF HGV
Friday 15 June
7.30am-10.30am  at Potters Fields Park,  Tooley Street; free
Southwark Council arranges Exchanging Places events to raise
awareness of cycle safety. These events allow people to sit
in the driver's seat of an HGV to get a better understanding
of what the driver can and cannot to see, especially in
regards to cyclists on the nearside and directly in front of
the vehicle. As well as the HGV, there will normally be free
cycle maintenance services, cycle security marking and
cycling information. The event continues from 12 noon to 2pm
in nearby Weavers Lane.

BLACK CAT WHITE CAT: COIN STREET NEIGHBOURHOOD FILM CLUB

OPEN STUDIOS AT MAKE SPACE STUDIOS
Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 June
11am-6pm at Make Space Studios,  Newnham Terrace; free
The only open studios event this year at this arts enclave
next to the railway tracks at Waterloo. More than 45 fine
artists, artisans and designers will be offering visitors
the opportunity to enjoy and purchase paintings, prints,
sculpture, fashion, accessories and much more. There will be
an cafe, live music and regular video screenings throughout
the weekend.

THE BIG BARN DANCE
Saturday 16 June
6.30pm-10pm  at St John's Waterloo, 73 Waterloo Road; �10
(free for under-8s and over-80s); booking essential
St John's is clearing away the chairs for an evening of
revelry for the whole Waterloo community. Live music and
caller from the renowned Fiddlestix Ceilidh Band. Light
refreshments, cake for all, balloons, bunting, fun and
dancing. Tickets on sale at St John's 10am-6pm during the
week and from 10am-12 noon on Saturdays.

FOOD + ART AT BOROUGH MARKET
Sunday 17 June
12pm-4pm  at Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street
Borough Market has teamed up with Southwark Arts Forum to
stage a one-day festival of food, art and music. Borough
Market traders will be on hand to offer an artistic
afternoon tea with the finest Borough Market produce.
Traders opening especially for the event include Oliver's
Bakery; Burnt Sugar; Bread Ahead, Comptoir Gourmand and the
Turkish Deli. Alongside Borough Market's traders there will
be will be an array of local artists including Rebecca
Chitty, offering witty Olympic-inspired tea-towels; Deborah
Hayman who makes beautiful hand-crafted jewellery, John
Whitfield's haunting photography; and a chance to build your
own biscuit skyline with community artist Eleanor Shipman.
Local musicians will perform during the afternoon.
