VICTORY DAY ACT OF REMEMBRANCE AT SOVIET WAR MEMORIAL
Wednesday 9 May
11am at Soviet War Memorial, Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park,
Lambeth Road
Participants in the Act of Remembrance will include a
representative of the Mayor of Southwark; the Russian
ambassador and ambassadors and representatives from other
CIS embassies; British and Russian Second World War
veterans; standard bearers from UK veterans organisations,
the Drill Squad of the London Nautical School and other
individuals and organisations supporting the memorial. The
short ceremony will include brief addresses from key
participants, the sounding of the Last Post and a two minute
silence.

CLASSICS WITH MY BABY
Friday 11 May
10.30am (eat cake and mingle from 10am) at St Mary Magdalen,

This month's concert features flautist Saleta Suarez Ogando
from Seville. Enter the Arcadian world of Pan, the faun like
God who brings the Spring and seduces nymphs with his
fertile...flute... Meet Syrinx who tries to escape from his
clutches by transforming herself into a reed; Join the
little Chinese cowherd as he skips along the misty mountain
path with his wooden flute; and be seduced by the Femme
Fatale in the Carmen Fantasy who drives a poor soldier to
run away with the Gypsies. A classical concert series for
babies and toddlers, performed by award winning
international artists (and local mums) Miaomiao Yu and
Philippa Mo. Studies show classical music can bring
tremendous benefits to young children, but the idea is
simply to bring adults and kids of all ages together for a
lively morning of exceptional music.
