INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK: HERITAGE LIBRARY SESSION

JOIN ME ON THE BRIDGE: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Thursday 8 March
10.30am at Millennium Bridge,  Bankside; free
Women for Women International their third annual 'Join me on
the bridge' event on the Millennium Bridge. All over the
world women will be standing on bridges today to make a
stand for peace and women's equality. Meet on the south side
of Millenium Bridge for banner-making and face-painting
before marching across the river (11am) and west towards the
Royal Festival Hall for speeches (12.30pm). Chanting and
entertainment along the route will be followed by guest
speakers at Southbank Centre.

YOGA AND WOMEN'S HEALTH

teacher from India explains how women can practise yoga

FRIENDS OF WATERLOO LIBRARY DROP-IN
Thursday 8 March
3.30pm-6.30pm  at Waterloo Library, 114-118 Lower Marsh
Friends of Waterloo Library invite you to drop in and have
your say on Lambeth's Cooperative Library Consultation. The
group would be very keen to hear what you want from your
library service. Where you would like it to be located? How
would you like the service to be delivered? Who should
deliver the service? The council officers are currently
moving towards the premise that the library would be best
housed in the Waterloo Action Centre building. But the
Friends group points out that this is not the only possible
location - Living Space on Waterloo Road and Oasis Centre on
the corner of Westminster Bridge Road and Kennington Road
could also feasibly host a library. Come and share your
views.

MUMMERS, MILKMAIDS AND MAYPOLES: 
A JOURNEY THROUGH THE RITUAL YEAR

Costumed processions, symbolic dramatisations, traditional
dances and fire ceremonies mark the changing seasons and
celebrate nature's bounty. Many of these customs claim an
ancient origin. Sara Hannant provides a a visual tour of
contemporary 'Merrie England', including Borough Market's
Apple Day celebrations and Twelfth Night Wassailing at
Bankside. A South East London Folklore Society event.

CLASSICS WITH MY BABY: BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER P

A classical concert series for babies and toddlers,
performed by award winning international artists (and local
mums) Miaomiao Yu and Philippa Mo. Studies show classical
music can bring tremendous benefits to young children, but
the idea is simply to bring adults and kids of all ages
together for a lively morning of exceptional music.
Featuring Milos Milivojevic (classical accordion), Philippa
Mo (violin) and Miaomiao Yu (piano). This month's programme
includes pieces by Paganini, Piazzolla and Prokofiev.

NIGHT AND THE CITY: COMMUNITY FILM CLUB

gangsters, corruption and betrayal. Set against the backdrop

WATERLOO NETBALL JUNIORS
Is your daughter aged 9 - 14 years and interested in playing
sport? Are you keen to get your daughter involved in a team
activity with other girls where she will increase her skills
and confidence? England Netball has given a grant to support
the development of junior netball in Waterloo. Training
sessions will begin in the April term at Archbishop's Park
and Geraldine Mary Harrmsworth Park (Imperial War Museum).
Separate sessions will run for primary and secondary school
girls. No prior experience is needed - but lots of
enthusiasm is required! Places will be limited so please

TRAINING ACADEMY FOR LOCAL 17-21 YEAR OLDS
Southbank Centre and E4 Udderbelly are launching a Training
Academy for 17-21 year-olds from Southwark & Lambeth. The
Academy gives 22 young people the opportunity to take part
in a 6 week course, gaining a practical insight into all
aspects of running a performance venue. At the end,
participants will present their own production in the E4
