BANKSIDE BIKESHED EXHIBITION
Monday 7 to Friday 11 March

The Architecture Foundation is holding an exhibition
showcasing a selection of submissions for an international
design competition to design a modular, portable and secure
cycle parking solution for the Better Better Bankside
Business Improvement District. The winning entry will be
built as a prototype in May 2011.

STREET DANCE PERFORMANCE
Monday 7 March
7pm at Hankey Hall,  Hankey Place
Millwall and QPR fans will be entertained by 15 young street
dancers from Southwark's Tabard Gardens Estate during the
half time interval at the Den on Tuesday. To warm up for the
performance in front of 20,000 paying fans, the dancers will
give their first public performance at Hankey Hall for their
friends and family on Monday. The 6-18 year old girls and
boys have been taught weekly by dance specialists 'Team
Kaizen' in partnership with Millwall Community Scheme.

JOIN ME ON THE BRIDGE:
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY WITH ANNIE LENNOX
Tuesday 8 March
12 noon at Millennium Bridge, Bankside; free
Women will be gathered on bridges from Australia to India,
from Afghanistan to Ireland, all celebrating the centenary
year of International Women's Day. The London March, led by
Annie Lennox, will leave Borough Market at 11am, walking
along Bankside to Millennium Bridge, crossing the Thames to
the North side then continuing west along the river walk way
past Victoria Embankment Gardens, then crossing back along
Hungerford Bridge to the South Bank and finishing at the
Royal Festival Hall for speeches (12.30pm-1pm). There will
be coffee and banner-making at Borough Market from 10am.

BETTER BANKSIDE PANCAKE DAY RACE
Tuesday 8 March
12pm-2pm  at Cathedral Square, Montague Close
Watch teams from local businesses as they compete in the
annual Better Bankside Pancake Day Race in Montague Close.
The event is held in aid of Paintings in Hospitals, the
charity based at the Menier Gallery in Southwark Street.
Pancakes will be on sale to the public.

EQUALS SOUL TRAIN IN JUBILEE GARDENS
Tuesday 8 March
3pm-6pm  at Jubilee Gardens,  Belvedere Road
To celebrate 100 years of International Women's Day through
the international language of dance, EQUALS will be creating
an EQUALS soul train. Get down and groove with your EQUAL of
the opposite sex - a friend, a relative, or a stranger.

CONSTRUCTION NOISE PROBLEMS AT THE SHARD AND LONDON BRIDGE
Wednesday 9 March
6.30pm at Bermondsey Village Hall,  Kirby Grove
The developments at the Shard and around London Bridge
station have been causing noise problems for people living
nearby. Leathermarket JMB - which manages several local
estates - has organised a meeting to disucss these problems
with Mace (the contractor building the Shard) and Alan
Blissett from Southwark Council's Environmental Protection
Team. Come along to the meeting at the Bermondsey Village
Hall to discuss the problems that you have been facing and
to find out what the council and Mace can do to reduce the
nuisance to residents.

Wednesday 9 March
7pm at Charles Dickens Primary School,  Toulmin Street
Regular meeting for residents of Cathedrals and Chaucer
wards. Meet your councillors, have your say and learn about
the work of local police officers. This month's theme is
"your streets: have your say" - take part in an interactive
voting session about trees, cycling on pavements and other
street-related topics. Plus a chance to learn about plans
for a Charles Dickens memorial in the Borough.

Regular public meeting for residents of Grange, Riverside
and South Bermondsey wards. This month's theme is "managing
Bermondsey's environment". The meeting will include
workshops on transport proposals for Spa Road, Jamaica Road
and Lynton Road. There will be opportunities to discuss the
proposed air quality strategy for the area. Plus a chance to
find out about the trial of new heating methods on four
Bermondsey estates.

LONDON BRIDGE AND THE CITY IN THE BLITZ GUIDED WALK
Sunday 13 March
Meet 11am by wooden cross in south churchyard at Southwark
Cathedral, London Bridge; �7
This walk examines the City's great fire raid of 29 December
1940 and other big raids of 1940/41. Neil Bright will help
you find the evidence that still remain. The walk is
supported by contemporary photos, eyewitness accounts and
one or two surprising tales. The walk finishes at
Blackfriars Bridge (north side).
