LONDON ASSURANCE: FREE OUTDOOR PROJECTION ON THE SOUTH BANK
Monday 28 June
6.45pm at National Theatre,  South Bank; free
The National Theatre's sell-out production of Dion
Boucicault's London Assurance starring Simon Russell Beale
and Fiona Shaw will be broadcast live to cinemas in London
and around the world as part of NT Live. For the first time
the production will also be broadcast on a large outdoor
screen in Theatre Square in front of the National on the
South Bank as part of the free Watch This Space summer
festival.

CHOCOLATE TASTING: A HISTORY OF CHOCOLATE

WATERLOO FOOD FAIR IN EMMA CONS GARDENS

5pm-7pm  at Emma Cons Gardens,  The Cut; free
Browse the food stalls as some of the most exciting

in a single location. Enjoy a Latin-inspired barbeque from

REAL FOOD FESTIVAL MARKET
Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July
Fri 11am-8pm; Sat 10am-6pm; Sun 12 noon-6pm at Southbank
Centre Square,  Belvedere Road
On the first weekend of each month 40 selected Real Food
Festival producers will come to the South Bank bringing
Londoners the opportunity to buy great quality, fresh
produce and ingredients at affordable prices, direct from
the producer. The local community will have a regular place
to come and buy seasonal, nutritionally-dense real food to
take home and cook with.

SHOWCASE: MINT STREET PARK OPEN DAY

Celebrating 10 years of Bankside Open Spaces Trust with a
showcase of the talents of families and young people. In
partnership with Blackfriars Settlement and Bankside
Residents' Forum. A great day out to discover and experience
different activities you can enjoy locally. A launch for
joint improvements to the park and try out for the new
stage. A family fun day in the park to meet your friends and
enjoy playing outdoors. Bouncy castle, face paints and
storytelling. Meet local groups, businesses, fire brigade,
play games and gather information Community Sports Day at
4pm. Beat the goalie, try the new gym equipment, osteopathy
and other ways to make you healthier and stronger. Talent
Showcase (3.55pm to 7pm) - show off your skills.

ARCHITECTURE ON THE SOUTH BANK: OPEN-AIR FILM SCREENING
Friday 2 July
11pm at National Theatre,  South Bank
Projected on the NT flytower, this programme of short films
from the BFI archive shows the evolution of the South Bank
from the opening of Waterloo Station, via the Festival of
Britain, to the cultural building sites in the 1960s and a
night with cineastes at the National Film Theatre.

FRESH WELCOME: ARCHITECTS BRANDISHING RUNNER BEAN PLANTS
Saturday 3 July
11am at Emma Cons Gardens,  The Cut; free
A troupe of volunteers, led by staff from Whitelaw
Turkington landscape architects, will carry hundreds of
runner bean plants from the 'gateways' into the Waterloo
area to the South Bank, to become part of the London
Festival of Architecture's Bankside Urban Forest.

TIBET FESTIVAL IN THE PARK: DALAI LAMA'S 75TH BIRTHDAY
Saturday 3 July
12pm-6pm  at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park,  Lambeth Road;

Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park - which includes the Tibetan
Peace Garden that was opened by the Dalai Lama in 1999 -
will be buzzing with musicians, entertainers and performers
from Tibet and around the world along with an array of
Tibetan and other stalls, Tibetan food and more.

SPANISH CIVIL WAR INTERNATIONAL BRIGADES COMMEMORATION
Saturday 3 July
12.30pm at Jubilee Gardens,  Belvedere Road
Annual International Brigade Memorial Trust commemoration
for the Spanish Civil War republican volunteers from Britain
and Ireland. Music, speeches and wreath-laying. The memorial
has been in Jubilee Gardens since 1985. This year there is a
chance to see Antifascistas, an exhibition on the British
and Irish volunteers in the Spanish Civil War, written,
designed and produced by the IBMT.

TRANSFORMING TATE MODERN OPEN SITE
Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 July
10am-4pm  at Tate Modern,  Bankside; free
Tate is offering the public an opportunity to observe the
new development site that will transform Tate Modern. From
the viewing platform off Sumner Street, the three Bankside
Power Station oil tanks, at the foundation of the new
building, will be visible.

CHILDREN'S CHOCOLATE FRUIT DIPPING

For children aged 3 and above (unless you don't mind getting
seriously messy). Your children can make delicious
chocolates to take home by dipping fruit in chocolate.
Bermondsey Kitchen will provide the chocolate, fruit, aprons
and chef's hats, you provide the children.  While you wait
for your lunch to be cooked, your children can be
entertained by an investigation of the liquid properties of
chocolate. And theoretically no eating until the chocolate

NEO BANKSIDE AND TATE MODERN: SCULPTED IN SUGAR
Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 July
 at Neo Bankside Pavilion,  Hopton Street
Developers of Neo Bankside, the new residential scheme
currently being built in Hopton Street, commissioned
sculptor Brendan Jamison to make sculptures of both Tate
Modern and the tallest of the Neo Bankside buildings

IAIN SINCLAIR IN CONVERSATION WITH MARTIN KARLSSON

Iain Sinclair, writer and chronicler of London, is in
conversation with Martin Karlsson who has created a project
on the 100-metre hoarding that encloses the building works
for the extension to Tate Modern. London - An Imagery 2008-9
takes as its starting point Gustave Dore's 1872 gothic
etchings. Karlsson updates this portrait of the city.

THE FOOD EXCHANGE AT BOROUGH MARKET
Sunday 4 July
Local community 12 noon-3pm; open to all 3pm-6pm at Borough
Market, 8 Southwark Street; free
Based around the elements of food, community, exchange,
knowledge, architecture, the event will gather together
chefs, medical herbalists, �guerilla scientists�, food
historians and story tellers for a series of workshops and
demonstrations, all aimed at promoting community spirit
through learning and eating. The Food Exchange will also
play host to the official launch of the Nomadic Allotments
project. Built by Cardiff University students, the
allotments are required to be versatile, economical,
lightweight and portable and will incorporate reclaimed and
recycled market materials such as pallets and packaging. The
legacy of the project will be an invaluable new community
resource offering rare growing space in central London.

GARDEN BARGE SQUARE - VISIT SE1'S FLOATING GARDEN

A series of seven floating barge gardens connected by
walkways and bridges. Gardens have an eclectic range of
