THE MYSTERIES PILGRIMAGE: GUIDED WALK WITH JOHN CONSTABLE

Shakespeare, Dickens and local writer John Constable, author

DIWALI PROCESSION & WORKSHOPS - BANKSIDE OPEN SPACES TRUST
Wednesday 21 October
From 2pm at Christ Church Garden, 27 Blackfriars Road; free
Explore one of the world's oldest stories, told
traditionally through puppets, drumming and songs, and to
discover the world of Rama, Sita and Goddess Lakshmi. The
event is being coordinated by Bankside Open Spaces Trust. 
Celebrations will start from 2pm at Christ Church Garden,
Blackfriars Road with a welcome from community leaders
followed by workshops. From 3pm the procession will comprise
children from Friars Primary School and Johanna Primary
School, together with members of the Blackfriars Settlement
Older People's Project and the Bengali Women's Group will
depart via Blackfriars Road making its way to Mint Street
Park by 3.30pm. Events continue there until 5pm with
storytelling, drumming workshops and dance performances.

OCTOBER PLENTY: HARVEST FESTIVITIES WITH THE LIONS PART

October Plenty is an Autumn harvest celebration held
annually in Southwark. Beginning on the Bankside, by
Shakespeare's Globe, October Plenty mixes ancient seasonal
customs and theatre with contemporary festivity. October
Plenty is a collective celebration of the seasons, weather
and food, in a public place, with access to everyone. The
event is free, and happens whatever the weather.
