POPPY APPEAL VOLUNTEER OPEN EVENING AT ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
Thursday 16 April
4pm-8pm  at Royal British Legion, 199 Borough High Street
The Royal British Legion in London needs special volunteers
to help organise this year's Poppy Appeal in its aim to
raise 3 million in the capital. Volunteers are crucial to
the success of the Legion's annual Poppy Appeal but as well
as its army of volunteer collectors in October and November,
the London team also needs people throughout the year to
help with the mammoth task of the organisation behind the

EASTER BUNNY WALK FROM MAUDSLEY HOSPITAL TO TATE MODERN

Meet 12 noon outside Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill
The Largactyl Shuffle guided walk from the Maudsley Hospital
(map) to Tate Modern explores the theme of Easter eggs,
Easter and wellbeing. Join CoolTan Arts on this fun filled
family day out and discover local history - famous &
infamous - inhabitants of Southwark, see hidden local
architecture and uncover the history of mental health in
Southwark. Walkers will be treated to an 'Easter Egg
Treasure Hunt' and the person who collects most eggs will
win a prize. The Largactyl Shuffle is a guided arts cultural
walk designed to explore the correlation between mental well
being and physical well being through art, history, humour
and exercise.

SONNET SUNDAY: FREE OPEN DAY AT THE GLOBE
Sunday 19 April
12 noon-4pm at Shakespeare's Globe,  New Globe Walk; free
The Globe opens its doors for a free Shakespeare's birthday
open day supported by the Mayor of London. The day will
embrace and involve everyone from 6 to 60 with fun
activities across the site, introducing visitors to the
Sonnets and the theme of love in Shakespeare. There'll be
love songs to show tenderness, Sword-fighting with Capulets
& the Montagues to show passion, together with workshops and
fun games on stage for the public to take part in.
Sonneteers across the site will engage visitors with the
charm and creative inspiration of this extraordinary
building and the great legacy of Shakespeare's work and
there'll also be the opportunity to take part in a record
breaking attempt to film the most people ever say one
sonnet.

St Alphege Clergy House, alongside the church, is to be a
community house for the Society of St Francis with three
sisters and two lay members in residence. Today, St
Alphege's Day, the Bishop of Woolwich blesses the house
which will be known as the Oratory of St Alphege. Afterwards
there is the opportunity to meet the community over tea.
