COMMUNITY FILM CLUB: LOCAL ARCHIVE FILMS
Monday 14 January
7pm at Tate Modern,  Bankside; free to members
* Some Activities of Bermondsey Council (1931)
Bermondsey Borough Council was the first to make its own
films. In 1931, Some Activities of Bermondsey Borough
Council, a newsreel-style film, was made from a compilation
of previously made footage, to explain the Council's various
services and activities. 
* We Was All One (1972)
The changing way of life in London's East End as old streets
are demolished and new blocks of flats put up. The film
examines the loss of community spirit, and whether the
changes are for the worse or better.
Membership of the Community Film Club is primarily aimed at
those living and working in Southwark and Lambeth. To become

THE SHORT HISTORY OF THE RED RUBBER BAND
Tuesday 15 January

Artist Yonatan Vinitsky will present a one-hour talk
discussing the 1845 English patent of the rubber band and
its connections to the present day. The talk will fuse
various subjects and narrative, current time and history in
a way that the talk itself functions as a rubber band and a
source for gathering and passing information and stories.

BOROUGH & BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Wednesday 16 January
7pm at Charles Dickens Primary School,  Lant Street
Meeting for Cathedrals and Chaucer wards. Agenda includes
feedback from the April's Traffic and Transport themed
meeting and a workshop session to find traffic and transport
priorities for 2008/09 and 2009/10. Also details of projects
which have allocated funding from Section 106, Cleaner
Greener Safer topics and Transport for London. Plus an
update on the recent news of Lottery funding to upgrade John
Harvard Library.
