COMMUNITY FILM CLUB: LOCAL ARCHIVE FILMS Monday 14 January 7pm at Tate Modern, Bankside; free to members * Some Activities of Bermondsey Council (1931) Bermondsey Borough Council was the first to make its own films. In 1931, Some Activities of Bermondsey Borough Council, a newsreel-style film, was made from a compilation of previously made footage, to explain the Council's various services and activities. * We Was All One (1972) The changing way of life in London's East End as old streets are demolished and new blocks of flats put up. The film examines the loss of community spirit, and whether the changes are for the worse or better. Membership of the Community Film Club is primarily aimed at those living and working in Southwark and Lambeth. The talk will fuse various subjects and narrative, current time and history in a way that the talk itself functions as a rubber band and a source for gathering and passing information and stories.
