THE FARMING TO FOOD SHOW IN POTTERS FIELDS PARK
Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 September 
10am-6.30pm in Potters Fields Park, Tooley Street; free
A unique opportunity to experience first-hand how food is
grown and produced. The show aims to give visitors memorable
hands-on experiences and valuable insight in to the amazing
history of how the farming sector has responded over the
years to the challenge of feeding a growing population. It
will also look to the future challenges that lie ahead and
suggest that we may need to look to our history for ideas.
This show will provide a great educational experience for
children and adults alike.
NB: Although plans to bring cows and sheep to Potters Fields
have been cancelled due to movement restrictions relating to
Food & Mouth Disease, the show will apparently still be
going ahead. Keep checking the website for the latest.

BANKSIDE BIKEFEST IN SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL'S CHURCHYARD
Thursday 20 September
12 noon-2pm in South Churchyard, Southwark Cathedral; free
Do you work in Bankside? Do you ride a bike to work, or want
to...? Trained mechanics will give your bike a free basic
service, with basic spares provided free of charge. Try out
four different state-of-the-art folding bicycles. Ideal for
those  who want a bike that's more compact and easier
to handle on trains and tubes.

PUTNEY AFTER-WORKER CYCLE RIDE (part of BANKSIDE BIKEFEST)
Thursday 20 September
6.30pm outside the Market Porter, Stoney Street; free
Ride along the south bank to Putney, half-way stop, then
return along the north bank. Southwark Cyclists invites
Bankside employees to join their 2-hour local evening bike
rides. These rides are perfect for getting to know cycle
routes around the area as well as raising your cycling
confidence. They are suitable for novice cyclists too.

HOW TO TRACE YOUR WATERLOO HOUSE HISTORY @ WATERLOO LIBRARY

Have you ever wondered if your home has a history, who lived
there before you, or how old it is? This introductory
session will equip you to set about researching the history
of your home or any other local property. Len Reilly will
talk about the development of the local area and this will
be followed with an introduction to the sources available at
Lambeth Archives and advice on research.

LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL YARD SALE IN SOUTHWARK BRIDGE ROAD
Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 September
10am-5.30pm at Pacific Playhouse, 62 Southwark Bridge Road
20 designers sell one-off and limited edition 2D and 3D work
with many pieces accompanied by the designers' special
project process/sketch book. Come down for a cucumber
sandwich, a home-made cake and the chance to pick up a
unique work from London designers, some at yard sale prices.
