FRIENDS OF HATFIELDS GREEN PRESENTATION CEREMONY

O2 Conservation Foundation grant to support gardening

SOUTHWARK MYSTERIES ST GEORGE'S DAY CELEBRATION
Monday 23 April
7pm at Cross Bones Graveyard, Redcross Way; free
Southwark Mysteries hold their St George's Day celebration
at the gates of Cross Bones graveyard. A celebration in song
and poetry to honour the outcast dead under the protection
of Our Lady's Knight, St George. After the short ceremony
there will be an opportunity for volunteers to come on site
to help clean-up the oldest part of this medieval burial
ground as a first step towards creating a memorial garden.

SILENT SHAKESPEARE AT THE GLOBE - SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY
Monday 23 April

8pm-10pm (with 20 minute interval) at Shakespeare's Globe,
New Globe Walk; free
Come and watch from Bankside as images from the past light
up the white walls of the theatre. Films include A Midsummer
Night's Dream, Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice.
Films will be accompanied by a score by composer Laura Rossi
performed live by Laura Rossi and Fourth Dimension string
quartet.

HOLLAND HOUSE EVENT: FREE DUTCH CULTURAL EVENT ON THE SOUTH
BANK
Saturday 28 April
11am-10pm  at Bernie Spain Gardens,  Upper Ground; free
All day long there will be many activities for all the
family such as a Dutch Market, live music and delicious
Dutch food and drink. Silent Disco: As the DJ picks the
tunes, only you and other groovers with headphones will hear
the music. For children there will be clog painting, face
painting, fun and games and a life-size Miffy, the cartoon
bunny, will be meeting and greeting the kids and giving away
Miffy gifts. Plus, at regular intervals in the Silent Disco,
there will be fairytale reading for children.

SPRING PLANTS & GARDENS FAIR AT THE MUSEUM OF GARDEN HISTORY
Sunday 29 April
10.30am-5pm at Museum of Garden History, Lambeth Palace Road
This year's plant fair sees the return of many familiar
faces as well as new exhibitors, including Iris of
Sissinghurst. Striking auriculas, scrambling clematis and
historic dianthus are amongst the wide range of beautiful
and unusual plants that will be sold on the day. Historic
garden tools will also be on sale, and for the first time at
this event, Holly Antrum will run an art workshop for
children and families. The new organic cafe will serve food,
and visitors will also be able to enjoy the delights of the
knot garden filled with tulips. Plant fair visitors will
also see the museum's newly sown and planted wild garden,
developed in response to the growing awareness of the need
for greater bio-diversity within urban areas.
